I work in Northern Virginia approx 5 miles from the Pentagon, there are alot of road closures for services and memorials around here today, I was in DC seven years ago and still remember how scared I was not knowing what was going on...

On duty today as I was seven years ago. As the time approached I began to get a nervous felling in my stomach. What would happen? Could this happen again? Could this happen here, I'm 15 minutes away from Pensacola NAS the home of Naval Aviation training? Dispatch broke the silence and everybody flinched this morning as All Call tones went off. They noted the date, time of day, and then paused for a moment of silence to remember and reflect.

I'll never forget where I was or what I was doing as I got the news of the attacks. My relief had just left and I was sitting in the watch room of the station doing our daily shift report when the phone rang and it was the guy who I just relieved driving down the road and he said, "turn on the news, your not going to believe what is on the radio", and as I turned to get up from the desk one of the guys had turned the TV to Fox News as we do every morning and as I looked up the second plane was impacting the WTC as the news anchors watched in horror. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't do anything. Immediately our phones started ringing and people were calling to find out what was going on, we didn't know, no one did. The Chief called and said "lock down the station and wait to here from me".

It came to be known that this was no accident. A deliberate attack on America. Remember this, we are Americans, not White Americans, African Americans, Chinese Americans or what ever country or origin you are from, we are Americans and I am an American Firefigher and a Honorably Discharged member of the United States Army and I Will Never Forget what those COWARDS did to MY COUNTRY !

I was in Heating and Airconditioning working on a unit outside in the Highlands when the Plane struck. You heard the explosion all the way to Sandy Hook when the second plane struck I couldn't believe it. I Still say they should wipe the earth of anyone attached to this attack. I lost 300 Customers alone that lived in the Middeltown area that worked in the towers.

At the timeof the attack, I was a fire captain and also worked ofr a pvt ambulance company, the 1st plane hit just before I got off the night shift, the second by the time I got home. I immediately put my name on the list to go help at ground zero though I was never called. While we remember on this day our fallen brothers, we must not forget what happened. it was a terrorist attack, an act of terrorism. not only was there intent to do great damage, but to inflict terror into the american populace, to make us afraid to go about our everyday lives, to make us afraid to get on an airliner, to bring this country to it's knees in fear. To this end we must not let them win. I share this story only to reflect how much this effects us, how we must not succumb.

around the time of the WTC attack there was also the anthrax attack. shortly there after one of our ambulances was parked outside a hospital awaiting a new crew. the new crew arrived and one of them went running into the ER screaming anthrax. next thing you know there was fire police, several different govt agencies represented by men in ill fitting suits and 'specialists' in damn near full space suits, bottled air, little booties etc. all because the previous crew had been eating powdered sugar covered donuts over the center console. we CANNOT live in fear..if we do they have won.
