Could an Apache catch this sailboat?

This for fun guys so don't get all worked up.

Could any offshore boat catch and hang with this sailboat (60ft) in this water... and how long till he passed you again.. I guess not all blowboats are ,,,, :)

Does this answer your question?

I'm seeing a BIG difference (10ft) in swell size.

nocigarette 03-03-2007 06:24 PM

yeah that sailboat has to be going at least 30mph in ten foot seas a apache running 70-80 would never catch that...........

warpath would be in nassau from miami and have had dinner and on his way back waving to the blow boat.....

cool video though.....

Jupiter Sunsation 03-03-2007 06:33 PM

Yeah but in the Apache video they mention that mechanical gremlins took the boat out of contention so they never made the finish line!

That was some insane blowboating though.

TopSpin80 03-03-2007 07:10 PM

The boats probably cost about the same... and the fuel bill is most likely lower with the sailboat... maybe I'll change sports... I already have a 16 foot prindle sail cat.... am I loosing my mind?

If the water REALLY turns rough, you can always use a 47.

Pwrbt33 03-03-2007 07:25 PM

Its always nice to hear a good throttleman on ther sticks in big water.

Cool video!! Thanks.

I know this...Whenever I can't sleep again I am going to play that first video. I am also sorry, but to play "Danger Zone" in that second video just made me laugh...its like playing "highway to hell" during a chess match.:D To each their own though. I love the apache video though, that was bad azz!

Ever priced new sails? Had a blowboater freind used to give me grief until he had to buy a new set!:D

Maximus 03-03-2007 07:54 PM

looks like 1.5mm for the boat and 2mm to race it. I know where a beautiful 47 Apache hull is for 40k. In Dubai for the class 1 WC races they were testing the air lingus sailboat team , I heard 12mm us budget for the test season.

I need to get a ride on one of those things in rough seas. ......without the dangerzone music :)

phragle 03-03-2007 08:02 PM

damn that apache is flat out gettin it!!

the guys on this blowboat are suicidle... look at the size of the swells about 1:30 in

Boats and Big water...may not be apples to apples but their both extreme...thats for damn sure..

JROMY 03-04-2007 11:37 AM

That sailing looks awesome! If I could actually afford one of those boats, I might actually get back into sailing!

Indy 03-04-2007 01:18 PM

I had a Hobie 18 with the magnum wings, when there was a blow that boat was a blast...some of the best times I've ever had on the water no doubt.

jhiguy377 03-04-2007 05:23 PM

both pretty awesome, but that apache is gettin it on hard!!!!!!

Tom A. 03-05-2007 01:29 PM
