Single or dual switch in throttle controls
I'm redoing the whole dash in my boat this summer. Planning on putting new controls in also.
For those that have had both what would your preference be. One switch in the handle controling both drives or two switches in the handle controling the the drives seperatly. |
HMMM, I have driven boats with the dual switches for both drives as well as the one for tabs one for drives. I like to be able to trim the drives independently. It seems even on the newest and nicest boat out there aftere a while of trimming and running the drives trim at different rates. So then you have to attemp to reach the dash switches to correct them. Same as with the one button being tabs. If you run in rougher water its even worse with a tab button and a drive button. Sometimes you want to run just one tab down a little than the other, again you need to reach the dash. Its really all personal comfort. You'll get a lot of feedback. I like both drives in the throttles on two switches. Just my choice of how I like to drive.

Good Idea |
I have one switch on the handle for both drives and a toggle switches on the dash for fine tuning the drives.:)

not understanding that. I set mine up 1 switch does both drives, other switch does both tabs. Seems I spend more time tweaking either both drives or both tabs than independently. Makes it easy to lower both drives and tabs everytime to get on plain with just a single finger action. So 1 hand on the wheel, other hand on the sticks. Any independent adjustment is done right above the controls anyways, so not a hassle. |
I like the idea.
Have one switch control both drives, Master drive and a slave, then have a second switch to "fine tune" the slave drive to match the master. Tabs is a totally different deal. |
it's interesting that this thread came up...
I am looking for the clamp-on switch for my boat...like the one below... i want to be able to control the jackplate and the outboard with it. it doesnt look like any one makes them any more... http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...es/11150_2.jpg |
I just got a new set of Livorsi throttles, but have not installed them. I had them made with a single switch in each throttle; and plan to run them as one for each drive.

I had'nt given much thought to having one control the tabs because really don't have to use them that much other than cross winds or if I want a little tab to keep the boat flying level.
Just wondering how hard it is hit both the buttons at the same time with my thumb to get the drives to go up or down. I guess if someone really wanted the tabs in the handle also he could put two switches on the right throttle for tabs and two on the left for drives. |
