Looking for info on this 28 apache

http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/4/8/88097548.htm

Does anyone have any history on this boat? It is New Hampshire at Silver Sands Marina. I'm thinking of having a local surveyor do a total (hull/mechanical) work down on this boat. His name is John McDounugh, does anyone know him/reputation? or is there someone else that would be more qualified to look at it?

Thanks, Dave

If you were smart you would put a deposit on that boat before someone buys it. 28 Apaches are very rare boats and that is the cheapest I have ever seen one listed for.

apache21 03-14-2007 09:16 PM

If there is nothing wrong with it I would buy it in a heartbeat.

dave911 03-14-2007 10:40 PM

Dude. Hit that chit!
Might want to budget an engine rebuild though.
That paint is pretty cool.

dave911 03-14-2007 10:41 PM

Oh yeah, and like Majic Meds said...thow a deposit down, and make it refundable upon mechanical inspection.

pshannon 03-14-2007 11:03 PM

If that boat would have been for sale a year ago, before i bought mine,i'd be all over that..You should definetley put a deposit down....

BY U BOY 03-14-2007 11:59 PM

yeah put a deposit down before i do:rolleyes: :D i am thinking about a a new boat.

delsol 03-15-2007 08:22 AM

Thanks for the replies -- and yes I put a deposit down yesterday.
Still looking for feedback on the surveyor. Steve -- you think it might be someones old boat any idea how it was run or taken care of? Supposedly a fresh water boat since new?
Thanks for any help.

Dave

I know that boat well. It was bought new buy a friend of mine (same guy who now has the 34 DCB with Konrad drives) It's been a fresh water boat since 1994 He sold it to the guy in New Hampshire back in 1997 or so. Been on Lake Winnipesaukee since. I saw it last fall and it still looked pretty good. When it was new it ran 88 on the speedo (before GPS)

Sick Stinger 03-15-2007 11:31 AM

delsol 03-15-2007 11:53 AM

Pantera1 -- I'm going to be getting the survey done early next week, would it be possible to have a look at it then once they bring it in of the rack? This might help me with getting more of a 3rd party opinion. Thanks, Dave

dave911 03-15-2007 12:52 PM

I can vouch for Pantera1...knows his chit pretty good.
Freshwater 28 Apache for $25...I'm drooling...

Pantera1 03-15-2007 01:54 PM

No problem , give me a shout when it comes down from the barn. Ive looked it over a few times when i see it in the yard getting cleaned up in the spring, always been looking for a for sale sign :( Its real clean from what I can see and does look like its been freshwater kept. I want to say its been on Winni for at least 5-6 years.
I know someone at silver sands that will give me the straight scoop.

Pantera 1 -- do boats normally have issues with corrosion in Lake Winnie, --- on the other thread someone had mentioned that because of the levels of lime in the water that the anodes/aluminum has a tendency to get attacked a bit?

I didnt know it was the lime, I thought there was a natural amount of salt in almost all freshwater.. But yes if left in all summer my lowers start to bubble and corrode, pitting the aluminum. Not nearly as bad as the ocean but it does happen on boats that are left in all summer. I repaint mine every 2-3 seasons for that reason.

TexomaPowerboater 03-16-2007 12:28 PM

Texoma has a large amount of natural salt. So much that it has some of the best Striper fishing in the Country, but not enough to corrode or start any bubbling. Most it will due is create a brown build up on the hull, which can be easily removed. Must be the Lime.

i don't know about the lime either BUT my boat was a lake Winni boat for 14 yrs. Does show alittle on the drives but not bad.

delsol 03-16-2007 02:41 PM

doesn't sound too bad -- 14 yrs is a long time -- here in the great lakes( fresh) after 14 yrs there'd be a certain amount also depending on how they were taken care of.

Your probably correct. I am not sure whats in the water that causes the corrosion, but something does slowly attack lower units in lake winni when left in all season. Most leave boats in all season here , I dont know anyone with a lift

bouyhunter 03-16-2007 04:46 PM

Electrolysis??
Alot of old boats, or shore power cords on Wini??

Delsol, great find!! I wish I had your luck in my own boat shopping.

delsol 03-17-2007 08:27 AM

If it wasn't for OSO I wouldn't have found it! I'll know next week how I've made out:drink:

You will do well with that boat at that price..Id wager you could sell it in a month for 40K +

cosmic12 03-17-2007 08:58 AM

you haven't got it yet? What are you waiting for?

blueamerican 03-17-2007 09:03 AM

I had a 28 Apache many years ago and it was the best ocean boat I ever owned. Price sounds too good to be true, I would buy in in a minute...

djtalon 03-18-2007 08:11 PM
