Anybody Have High Hours On This Motor ? ....how Many Hours Recommended Before Rebuilding ?? 500??

200+ on mine. I heard they were engineered to go 700-1000 hours before a top-end look-see.

Now granted that has alot to do with the life they lead. I believe mine will go a long ways.

i heard the same thing. i have 260 on mine and she runs better now then when i got it.

I believe someone on here was qouted as saying (sorry, don't remember who it was) 492 hrs.


Cuz he blew one at 493.

I also heard 700-1000 hrs. of course alot depends on how you treat your equipment....... I put 600 hrs. on a 1990 base 454 330hp.....no problems (except manifolds/risers). The 496 is a MUCH better engine. Eric

Just shy of 300 hours, and running as strong as new.

My 496 Ho's Have Only 125 Hours ....and Purr Like A Kitten....so Far Great Motors With Strong Midrange Power!!!...i See Alot Of Upgrades For Them ,but I Just Dont Want To Mess With Motors That Run So Well And Are So Reliable!!
