My Carry gun is a S&W 38 spec. It has a 3" Barrel and holds 5 shots. It also has a hammer cover so that you do not cock it by accident. I do not care what anyone says the only gun to carry is a revolver as it is the ONLY gun you can know is going to work EVERY time. I can toss it in my pocket or on my hip and NO ONE will know it is there. I DO NOT want anyone to know I am carrying, it can cause trouble for you. My favorite semi is my Sig 226 9mm. I have shot THOUSANDS of rounds through it and it has been flawless, not one missfire. For pin and plate I use my 38 special or my Dan Wesson 445 Super Mag. They get pissed when I use that because with the 380 grain bullets it rips the Plates off the table and explodes the pins into a million little bits. For Target it is my old High Standard 22.
