biggest bang for the $$
hello im new to this forum. Im also new to boating in general, although I have been on friends boats, I want my own. I was wondering what boat would be considered the biggest bang for the buck for something around 125k-150k fairly new between 25'-32'. ?
boats im considering: Eliminator Nordic Hallet formula whatever else youd recommend in that price range. thanks George |
I would look at a Superboat. They are a lot less then what you are looking to spend and perform very well with a single engine. The ride and build quality is very good.
Jon |
Also look at Sonic. They make a very nice 31 with twins that will fit into your price point. Unlimited Marine in Russell Springs/Jamestown KY has a new one on order for stock, Talk to Carl for details. Joe Murray

Definitely look at Sonic,I'm on my second. No complaints:cool:

Jon For the $$ he is talking he can probably get into a '34 Super. |
Welcome to the fray. Take alot of time and go through the classified section and read read read. Do the legwork and you won't go wrong. Again Welcome.
|
What are your wants/needs? Pure speed? Is there a wife with creature comfort needs? How fast do you want to go? What kind of water will you be boating in? Will you be overnighting? Reliability? You should develop a list of items 1-5 and rate what is the most important to you
Bottom line - different strokes for different folks. |
Bang for your buck! Here is one a little larger than your size range, but well within your price range. Just depends upon what kind of amenities you are looking for.

There Ya go! JawbreakerKid found you, your boat!
|
SUPERBOAT!!! The Y2k is the best boat for the money! You could maybe find a used 28 Skater also.
|
I don't know you or your boating experience, but from what you have posted I would suggest a SAFE BOATING COURSE first. And then lots of seat time at reasonable speeds to get real familiar with your new boat. There is a wealth of information on OSO as to what boat you should buy. After your purchase, your prime consideration should be SAFETY for you, your passengers and other boaters.
Welcome to the world of boating and especially Offshore Only. |

Sunsation!!

Take your wife too. If something happens to either one of you you need to have back up. AND don't forget about the tow vehicle, trailer etc..... unless you are going to dry stack. Then you might as well do a bowrider...:evilb:
Get the biggest bumpers you can carry, don't skimp on the "lines" and I DONT mean laundry or ski rope. Honestly though, its alot of homework,,,, check out the insurance rates of each hull and engines,,,,, Are we having fun yet? Good Luck! |
Have you consider a velocity by any chance?
|
Checkmate!
|
If you are in CA, I would not buy an Activator, Superboat, Kryptonite, or any of the custom Long Island boats. They are excellent boats, but once you've had it for a year and are ready to upgrade, as we all do....you'll be stuck and will have a tough time selling one on the West Coast. Buy an Eliminator, Nordic, DCB, Ultra, or one of the other West Coat boats. For the money you're talking, you can pretty much take your pick. A Cigarette, Formula, or Fountain would also be great boats no matter where you live.

I ran with this pantera last year.It handled big water pretty well.I think he's selling it because I procharged my sonic:D :D :D .But seriously I think it would be worth checking out. Trevor

east coast
there are buyers for east coast boats in CA. i had west and i have east. and all have west again and east again. what kind of boating do you want to do?? you have alot of choices.
|
Simple and easy........buy a Fountain! Best bang for the buck and easy to sell when you want out.:D
|
I think if your after a fast boat Eliminator is the best bang for the buck. You get great gel coat, a finished interior and they are fast. Plus my 27 seats 6 people like a big v without the need for twins. You do miss out on a cuddy.

Great running hull and will always be in style!!! |
Bang for the buck. I think we all can all agree that a fountain would fit that definition. I would look into a 35 fountain with twin 496's. You can buy a new one for 160 or a couple year old used one for 110.
