Something to think about...............

This is an Editorial written by an American citizen, published in a local
Newspaper.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans.
However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically
correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism
was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is
seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost
entirely composed of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few
things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some
born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our
own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and
victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak
ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other
language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the
language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right
wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and
women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly
documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our
schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the
world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are
happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't
care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land,
and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and
we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But, once you are done
complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national
motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one
other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

birdog 02-11-2002 12:12 PM

God Bless America!!!!

Bill272 02-11-2002 12:23 PM

Amen. That's just a wonderful Christian attitude. I bet Jesus (the Jew!!!...would you propose we keep this non-american who didn't speak english outside our borders, too?)is just happy as hell to hear that the religion that bears his name is used to justify this article of understanding and love of all people. And who can't agree that our sovereignty is getting diluted. We didn't drive the injuns off this land for nuthin, by god. We certainly don't want any immigrants or forigners around here anymore.

Smitty 02-11-2002 12:24 PM

I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE !!!!!!!!

If you don't like it--hit the road to somewhere else and don't come back cryin'!!!

Iggy 02-11-2002 02:12 PM

Bill272,
Unfortunately you sound like one of those guys that runs around wearing a white sheet and pointy hat in the name of "GOD".

I agree that we should reduce the influx of refugees and immigrants comming into the country.
I agree also that if those people decide to prmenantly take up residence they should be required to speak and write our language.

Remember this, your ancesters were "forigners" too just like mine and almost everyone elses, unless they were Native American Indians the true first Americans.
My wife is decendant from pure blood American Indian whose tribe met the first colinists as they got off the boat. That's right, her people were standing on the beach watching as they rowed up.
My ancesters were members of the first colinists to settle in Virginia and New Jersey.
How about yours?
Becareful about your racist comments.

Iggy -- I'm not sure that Bill's comments were meant to be taken seriously (I hope... ).

Perhaps Bill could elaborate. Bill?

Sean :)

Iggy 02-11-2002 02:30 PM

I'm hoping that too.
His comments about:

And who can't agree that our sovereignty is getting diluted. We didn't drive the injuns off this land for nuthin, by god. We certainly don't want any immigrants or forigners around here anymore.
just rubbed me wrong way.

I was always wondering about that "Native American" thing. I was born in Dearborn, Michigan, USA - what does that make me a native of, Bolivia?

Just wondering...

No. If you were born in Dearborn that makes you a native of the middle east... LOL. :D  :D J/K :D

Sean :)

MikeStar 02-11-2002 03:54 PM

Hey Sean, are you originally from Michigan? :) You know all the secrets...

seanclong 02-11-2002 03:59 PM

Mike -- Yes I'm originally from Plymouth, Michigan. As I tell my wife: 'I miss the pennisula everyday'. She, as a 'native' Marylander, is sick of hearing it. Nothing wrong with Maryland - I guess I'm just used to the rythyms and styles of life in Michigan. I would love to move back some day.

Sean :)

birdog 02-11-2002 03:59 PM

Dearborn, MI has one of the largest populations of people from the middle-east outside of the middle-east itself. Not that that's a bad thing.

Sean :)

Bill272 02-11-2002 04:10 PM

sorry folks, it was meant as sarcasm. I just have a problem with the whole "We're the real americans and if you're different, get the F*&k out of MY country", and stand behind that by saying that we are christian nation. I guess it just rubs me the wrong way. But at the same time, I realize the slant this board usually takes and rather than fuel any more religious wars, I'll let it drop. We are a democracy, right?

birdog 02-11-2002 04:12 PM

Didn't know that.I come from Birmingham orig. long time ago-still miss Mich. Awful pretty country up north.

Bill 272: I don't think thats what the letter was saying,I think what they meant was If you want to live here so bad you should conform to our culture,Else wyhy does everyone want to come here so bad. By the way Osama #hit head got pissed because american women{who were trying to save his culture!}were not conforming to his culture

spitfire1 02-11-2002 06:24 PM

Well I knew that this one would stir up a little controversy, the board has been a little boring lately so I just thought I would liven it up a little.....I gotta tell ya..Bill272 I would have sworn that you were my brother responding but I know better....you have some interesting points and supercrash brings up some good ones too, however the article brings some points to light that really strike home here down in Miami. After living thru the Elian debacle and watching the resultant BS that ensued, I cant wait until Castro passes on....then we will see how many of the unhappy cuban immigrants really do go back...not very many I would guess...The pledge allegiance to the flag controversy......I used to be proud to recite it in school.....now we dont do it any more because it offends some people...BULL **** I say to that....Alot of people died for this country and the flag...there is a point where this country I believe is going to get fed up with the politically correct thing....I am sorry ..there is a point were it goes to far..Although the article is not 100% on I think it brings to light some very good points to consider.....It is a democracy..like I said....something to think about...... ;)

Spitfire ....Who wrote it??????...What news paper?????..."in god we trust" wasn't our moto till 1956 or so.So it has nothing to do with our founding fathers.
And "clearly documented" ..is a outright lie..This little rant you posted is the typical mindset of the typical American..It's full of lies and feeds the already angery Americans that will belive anything they are told....Like a ducks quack doesn't echo..or you can't lick your elbow..or many other storys told on this board..

Shorgasm 02-11-2002 07:00 PM

And here I was with the false illusion that SuperCrash had changed......

Come on buddy positive....think positive.....PLEASE>>>>>>> :(

NICKSLICK 02-11-2002 07:09 PM

Um... you cant lick your elbow...

  :D :D

NICKSLICK 02-11-2002 07:10 PM

QUAK!

QUAK!

cigarette1 02-11-2002 07:15 PM

quak!

quak!

supercrash 02-11-2002 07:28 PM

Sorry guys...The Christian direction that some people are trying to take this country just upsets me ..
And yes some people can lick their elbows and Quaks do echo..And their is no Santa. :)

spitfire1 02-11-2002 08:23 PM

SSupercrash....what part of Chicago are you from???
I'm a southsider myself..........

[ 02-11-2002: Message edited by: Spitfire1 ]

NICKSLICK 02-11-2002 08:27 PM

so what your saying by all this crash, is that the vast majority of people in this country cannot lick their elbow, and that most people dont know whether a duck quack can be heard, or dont care.

Hmmm... sounds like you might be on to something here...

  :D :D

more than you think...

spitfire1 02-11-2002 10:47 PM

pushin this back up too....... :p

buck183 02-11-2002 11:12 PM

SuperCrash,

I was able to absorb your comments until you brought up the part about Santa Claus not being real. Now I'm pissed!!!!!

If you can't dream, what can you do???

Bill272 02-12-2002 12:01 AM

Iggy, I really meant no offense, I was trying to be quite obviously sarcastic. Sorry if I offended you.
Hey, I can agree with some of the article. Yes, English is our language, it’s great to be patriotic, and I think the whole PC thing is overrated and overblown. But don’t buy the “In God We Trust” is our motto, "be a christian or get out" BS. E Pluribus Unum (out of many, one) is more of a motto that the country was founded on (shown on the Great Seal, approved by congress in 1784). “In God We Trust” was declared our national motto in 1956. I just read that there have been challenges on the constitutionality of the motto, as recently as 1996. The opinion then read "After making [inquiries], we find that a reasonable observer, aware of the purpose, context, and history of the phrase "In God we trust," would not consider its use or its reproduction on U.S. currency to be an endorsement of religion. (Gaylor vs USA, 10th Cir. 1996)” That would imply that those who use this as an argument for the “Christian State” are unreasonable observers. I couldn’t agree more. I love my country and think that the flag is a great symbol of it. My kids recite the Pledge of Allegiance at school and I recite it at Power Squadron meetings. But I don’t think I’d die for the flag. I would risk my life defending the US, but if someone said that there was a couple of guys with flamethowers and a tank and machine guns down the road that were planning on destroying a flag, but if I led a charge of 300 men to overtake them, hopefully our last guy could get the flag away while the enemy was busy turning me and the other 298 soldiers into corned beef hash in fatigues, I think I’d pass.

Iggy 02-12-2002 06:30 AM

No offence taken.
I apologize if I offended you.
It's just that there are some things that hit close to home and heart.

supercrash 02-12-2002 08:57 AM

Bill272...Way to speak up :) I hear what your saying!!!
Somebody needs to tell G.W. that this is not a Christian nation. He vows to uphold the Constitution , But his first act in office was defying the constitution.
www.positiveatheism.org./hist/quotes/bush.htm
His father already excluded atheists as citizens and patriots..Whats next???..kick us out of the country that they highjacked??

And just for fun www.artbell.com/funfotos4.html

birdog 02-12-2002 09:33 AM

Gotta agree with you 272! I pick my fights more carefully than that. But if the enemie is threatining our way of life or people that we have sworn to defend then i will be there with the 299 other americans,as my granfather did in WW1 as my father did in WW2 as my uncle did in Korea And as many of my friends and almost myself did in Viet Nam!!!!!!

supercrash 02-12-2002 09:48 AM

Bill sounds like me birdog......NO WAY would I fight for a country that tells me I'm no citizen or patriot because I don't belive in god.But the bastards still took my tax money.
Spitfire..take a look at the responses you got from your post..Most those people just assume what was posted is true.. :( Just like when they read "In god we trust" They assume it's their god that we trust. The Christians are really pushing full steam ahead with their take over of this country , hopefully when G.W. gets defeated in the election the next guy can straighten things out.

seanclong 02-12-2002 09:55 AM

I gotta say that quack-quack exchange between Nick and Cig1 had me ROTFLMAO!!!! :D :D :D

Thanks for starting my day out right!!!

Sean :)

birdog 02-12-2002 10:54 AM

S.C. Those tens of thousands of men gave their lives so you @ I can decide what religion or no religion! Don't let a few bible thumpers make you believe any different!!!! America stands for free choice above all else!!!!

supercrash 02-12-2002 11:19 AM

Bird..The "bible thumper" is the President..And his father
Did you read the link about his first act in office???..I would never fight his holy war in the middle east!!..When the Japs attacked us we went after their innocent citizens with atom bombs...Done!!WAR is over!!No further American were killed and the Japs have behaved ever since...Now a bigger attack comes and we are a bunch of pussies that base our whole war around not hitting civilians..What happened to us since then???..Can we dig Truman up so he can launch some weapons already???
