Powerplay Boat Posting??

Last night I was reading a post concerning Powerplay Boats and some problems they are having. It has since been deleted! A couple of weeks ago, I also saw a posting about Powerplay Boats and their inability to perform. That post was also deleted! I do not agree with these posts being deleted. This is the type of useful information that comes out of the "OSO" board...Good ..Bad ....or..Indifferent.

HP-J 02-11-2002 03:54 PM

I agree as well. Censoring the opinions of the members is not going to do any of us any good. I have my own personal opinion on PowerPlay, but I am now questioning whether it is acceptable to post this on OSO.

thunderdan 02-11-2002 04:57 PM

I am not sure why, but this is the fourth powerplay post that has been deleted in the last month or so. What gives?

Indy 02-11-2002 05:17 PM

I wondered about the deletion myself. One of the functions of this board is for useful dissemination of information regarding manufacturers, mechanics, marinas, parts, etc. We have all benefited from this information. However, deletion of a post without explanation just makes it more suspicious to the OSO members. If the post in question was malicious, then the manufacturer, representative, broker, or somebody "in the know" could set OSO straight and we would all know that the original post was entered without credibility. I wonder what is going to happen to this thread

birdog 02-11-2002 05:20 PM

Well,somebody say somthing bad about Powerplay and we will find out {Dont know anything my-self}

Looney Tune 02-11-2002 05:21 PM

:D

HP-J 02-11-2002 05:40 PM

Well, here goes. When I first saw the post about Powerplay yesterday, I was going to comment about it, but decided not to. Now that this has become an issue, I almost feel obligated to comment now.

My only experience with Powerplay was last year at the Lauderdale show. There were 2 representatives from the company there (I won't mention names), and they left a very negative impression on me. Their sales tactics consisted mostly of bad mouthing the competitors in a very juvenile way. While listening to their unique sales approach (to put it nicely), I inspected their boat. It was average in terms of construction & quality, in my opinion. Based on the outcome of this experience, I personally would not buy a Powerplay product. When I heard the story from the other post on the weekend, it made me think back to my experience. Despite my experience with them, and opting to not purchase a Powerplay, hopefully whatever problems they are having can be resolved.

birdog 02-11-2002 05:43 PM

OK...used car salesman selling boats. Not what we want in that price range. What else ya-Got?

HP-J 02-11-2002 05:44 PM

Unfortunately one of those salesmen also happened to be an owner of the company.

Now that realy sucks!

The Wizard 02-11-2002 05:48 PM

So you went out and bought a Sunsation instead???

:D :D

;)zzie

buckknekkid 02-11-2002 05:50 PM

I had the pleasure of selling boats on the same dock as power play a few years ago. It made my job much easier :D :D :D

OffshoreOnly 02-11-2002 07:08 PM

There are only two ways that a post can be deleted. It can be deleted by the administrators (which there are two) or by the person that started the thread. If the person that started the thread deletes their post, it will wipe out the entire thread. We did not delete it! OSO

KenP 02-11-2002 07:14 PM

Ozzie(The Wizard) has a 33 Powerplay. He has no problem hanging with the 100 mph club. I have no experience with the boat or company. I did tour the factory when I was interested in a deep V. I think they have a real nice product. The Wizard of Oz is an impressive boat.

OopSeaDazey 02-11-2002 07:51 PM

the boats are killer, the managment/ownership is the problem.

Gordo 02-11-2002 09:00 PM

After reading the BoardGods post, I would say whoever started the thread was the one who deleted it.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 02-11-2002 09:30 PM

Did anyone notice if all four threads were posted by the same user? Could be, someone is just a bit pissed about something and might try knocking the company for short period of time and then delete the post. I'm glad OSO has come forward to clear themselves of any censoring. That could really hurt membership numbers if that was the case. I believe they know when to step in and that last thread was nothing for them to be alarmed about. THANKS OSO! ;)

BLOWN 1100 02-11-2002 09:45 PM

Will the person who deleted the post please come forword

OffshoreOnly 02-11-2002 10:23 PM

To answer the question the posts were not started by the same person, there were three different people. One is no longer a member of the board. The pattern of two of the four is a post is made, trouble is caused, then the original post is deleted about an hour later. The person that deleted last night's knows exactly who they are and so do we. OSO

02-11-2002 10:29 PM

and therefore what?

why is the person no longer a member?

inquiring minds want to know....

I can only assume that the board moderator(s) will continue to encourage free speech and an open expression of one's opinions correct?

OffshoreOnly 02-11-2002 11:14 PM

You may say whatever you would like. They are no longer a member because OSO had received so many complaints about the person on various topics that when asked to cool it off a little the person became a smart***. The posts included comments about situations when people were killed, anti-american, and in a lot of cases not true statements attacking peoples character. OSO and the member decided it would be best for them to play on a playground with people who thought those things were funny. The actions were taken at the request of you all- "the members". Not something we like to do but luckily only happens once in a while.

I do not see what the big question is hear. Obviously the poster has deleted their post. I have deleted some of my posts with questions that I have asked just to try and free up space on the board. I know that they site is taxed and once I get my questions answered if I feel it is a "stupid" questions I delete it. Perhaps this person got the response that they were looking for and decided to delet it as well, or they decided that some one was going to complain about it and they would take it off first. At any rate I think that we DO NOT have to question the administration of this board because we all know that things have to get a little out of hand for them to get involved and those strings were no were near that point.

boat nut 02-11-2002 11:56 PM

TOO OLD,

Well said. This is also the same rumors we are hearing out in this neck of the woods.

Audiofn 02-12-2002 12:02 AM

Well it is certainly an interesting rumor and untill I see it more substantiated (sp) I will leave it at that and give the board administrators the benifiet of the doubt.

Jon

Jeffrey 02-12-2002 12:52 AM

I guess it is time to set the record straight! Most rumors have a shred of truth to them. In this case ... the rumor has more than a shred of truth to it.

Approximately four months ago I took on a partner in OSO who resides in Florida. He is involved in the boating industry and a very well-respected individual.

The reasons were really very simple. OSO was growing beyond my capabilities to handle it. I needed help and a good friend of mine was there to help me. A diehard boater like all of us. Someone who could help with the day-to-day operations. Someone with excellent input. Someone who I could rely on to be there 24-7! And most importantly ... someone I could trust 110%!

Now most of you who have been on the Board for the past year or so know me and know how I operate. I have never - and will never - interefere unless absolutely necessary. My partner - Steve - knows this and agrees with me 100%. I know what Steve does and he knows what I do. I can assure all of you that he has never deleted any posts pertaining to Powerplay. Yes ... he knows the owner and even owns a Powerplay. But he also knows that OSO is neutral and will always remain neutral.

Both Steve and I are here to insure that OSO continues to grow for the benefit of every user on the Board and every visitor to the site. We are definately not going to jeapordize our reputation by siding with any individual or company over some inconsequential posts.

If any of you ever have a complaint or see something that bothers you ... email me directly. My email address is [email protected]. Need confirmation on a rumor? Ask away. Posts disappearing? Let me know.

I have never let any of you down and I am not about to start now. Rest assured ... I am here and very much involved behind the scenes. I will be at the party on Friday at Monty's and I expect all of you who are attending to come and say hello.

PhantomChaos 02-12-2002 01:47 AM

I've had the opposite problem.......might hit the board later after a few too many cocktails, and make a few posts.

The next morning I go to the board while at the office and see a cool thread and check it out, only to notice that I have already posted there the night before!!! It's like my post just popped up there all by itself!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

PhantomChaos 02-12-2002 02:04 AM

You stillup now?

bajabob38 02-12-2002 04:48 AM

Troutly
you better get some sleep, we got some partying to do in Miami..!!!!!

KAAMA 02-12-2002 05:46 AM

Thanks again for this forum Jeffrey

Ozzie 02-12-2002 08:00 AM

I was going to look at Powerplay at Miami. Is there a potential problem I should know about or isn't there? What have the deleted posts said? The rest of this post is too confusing. I only care about the facts.

CigDaze 02-12-2002 08:11 AM

This is an interesting little thread...
In the interests of curiosity and gainfully obtaining knowledge, I typically cruise all of the different forums on the site and I have noticed more often than others that the pp and/or pq forums have had some stragne things going on...Like the post in question here. Hmmmmm   ...

Anyway, since first being intriqued by this thread, I wasn't going to post but I had to now only because I wanted to thank Jeffrey and company for his/their straightforwardness and honesty in always answering our questions and being there to quell our inquiring minds. Thanks!!! :D :)

02-12-2002 08:58 AM

Jeffrey...

Keep up the great work.

If you guys need anymore partners, lemme know... Workwise or financially.

OffshoreOnly 02-12-2002 09:08 AM

Well, now that the cat is out of the bag we must tell you that this announcement was supposed to made at the party in Miami. We posted that we had some surprises for you. That was one of them. We still do have another so we will see you there.

supercrash 02-12-2002 09:19 AM

I can't belive someone was asked to leave and supercrash is still here :) ;)
They must have been saying some pretty nasty things..Wish we knew who it was.OSO should hand out a prize if someone makes the right guess...or if they guess who deleted the threads.

birdog 02-12-2002 09:20 AM

First,Oso what a great job you have done with this site!!!! Just a thought though...In the future as this site grows @ you need more help,You might turn to the membership. I know some people would hate it but I for one would like to see this site totaly free from ANY reliance on anyone other than it's members! You can't tell me when a magazine takes a 4 or 5 page ad it does'nt pull some punches!!!! OSO is the only place for open opinions!!!!!!

OffshoreOnly 02-12-2002 09:33 AM

Birddog,
Not following you, be more specific.

birdog 02-12-2002 11:03 AM

OK I hope I don't get my head ripped of for this...but here go's Every other club I belong to charges membership fee for Addm. costs. I for one would have no trouble with a ciub dues if it keeps this site clean. My hat is off to you guys for what you do,I can't imagine the work it must take to keep this up @ running so well!!! With membership closing in on 4000 It would'nt take much from each of us to help.

OffshoreOnly 02-12-2002 11:10 AM

I'll tell you what, when the new site comes up we will be able to take polls. We will poll the members and ask them what they would be willing to pay if at all. You are not reading between the lines of this thread. OSO did not delete any posts. Therefore, the posts were deleted by the person that started the thread who we will not name. People say things and then when other people respond back with comments like "that is not a true statement, you could be sued for defamation of character etc." then the post disappears. There is a little game going here with the whole Powerplay thing that we are and have been watching. The administrators are not in the game and don't want to be the referee. Those of you that are playing the game know who you are and what you are doing. OSO only deletes a thread if our attorneys instruct us to to protect ourselves. That happens once in a blue moon. It has nothing to do with who we know, who we are friends are, what kind of boats we own or owned. We stay neutral as Jeffrey said because we have to in this business. Capiche??

Now I'm intrigued to see what the other surprises are that OSO is going to unveil. Can't wait to see what's around the corner.

birdog 02-12-2002 11:19 AM

Lrt me set this straight, I never Questioned youre integrity!!! I think you are doing a great job!!!! Please don't get me wrong, I just thought if you do need help, turn to us first .I think most members want to help! Keep up the great work!!!!! This site is the BEST!!!!!!!!!
