Missed this thread the first time around, glad to hear he's doing good. Will be praying his recovery goes smoothly.

Wobble 08-09-2007 09:21 PM

Posting from the hospital

This is my 3rd attempt, I keep losing my connection

Nick is making progress, but he has had a rough time due to his epidural pain block becoming dislodged after 36 hours. The pain block should have lasted about 4 days and allowed him to do his lung exercises without too great a discomfort. (re-doing the epidural was considered too risky for Nick)

He has either been too drugged or in excruciating pain much of the time since Saturday. The Doctors seem to have found a combination of meds that allow him to function a little now and he has been up and walked around the nurses station three times today.

It is very tough to watch someone in this much pain. Unforrtunately for Nick, the key to his recovery is lung exercises and getting up, so they have to go easy on the pain killers.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers

Brandon 08-09-2007 09:46 PM

Wobble 12-20-2007 03:07 PM

Sorry I have not updated this thread in a while.

We received confirmation today that Nick is in remission, what more could you ask for?

Nick had two more rounds of chemo after his surgery and is recovering, his strength is way down and he still tires easily but we can see improvement, he has re-registered for University and will be starting back in January. That will be tough as he is still feeling the effects of the confusion caused by chemo-head. Still, I have no doubt that he will do well.

Thank you so much every one for your thoughts and prayers. Merry Christmas

Mark Hawkins and family

Wonderful news Mark.

Couldn't ask for a better Christmas gift/prayer than that, can you?

Blessings and Peace to all of you, especially to Nick.

Good news to get just in time for Christmas! Whishing you all the best!

CigBoat 12-20-2007 03:20 PM

Another note since I have been through chemo as well the whole chemo foged brain thing starts to ease after time. I am a year and a half out and I finally can hold a conversation for some time without repeating myself too often (at least I can catch myself now) tell him to keep reading and using his brain it is hard to do but it gets better

fountain4play 12-20-2007 03:22 PM
