real friends are the ones that will tell you you're acting like an ass if you are. They don't tell you what they think you want to hear or make false promises.

When I got into to hi perf boating / racing scene back in 1999 I brought in some of my " so called" hometown friends. One of them I had known for over 20 years. The first time I had some bad luck they scurried like rabbits to find a better deal , a bigger boat and a better meal. It was a huge eye opener for me. On the flip side man I met some of the best people on earth in this sport , I guess it's a trade off. Just never thought my hometown guy's would wind up at the bottom of the wood pile and some strangers from all over the country would still be my best friends today - go figure!

The best friend is your bud the mercruiser tech that gives you his cell # . It has kept me from idleing home on one more than once!
