Default Measuring engine height ?????????

Guys -

Can someone walk me thru measuring engine height? I have a 30 foot Spectre with twin 300 Mercs. I've been told that engine height should be ~ 1 1/2 inches above the bottom of the boat.

Are they referring to prop shaft height? The front of the nosecone? That should be the same thing, right? What's the best way to measure this? Also, are you suppose to measure straight ahead of the nosecone, in a straight line, to the back of the boat? Reason I ask is the boat is "deeper" towards the middle.

Thanks,

Measure with propshaft parallel to bottom of boat. Tape a ruler to the transom, then use a straight edge to extend where the prop shaft center would meet the ruler. Keep the straight edge at the same angle as the propshaft.

i have ste up cat outboards in this fasion. straight edge( 4 foot level) directly in front of bullete. as stated measure to center of bullet from top of straight edge. the formula you can start with is , for evey 4 inches you can come up 1/4 of an inch. typicly 1 1/4 - 1 1/2.
you can also differ the heights from left to right, which will make the boat crab, but also make it faster.
