Thumbs up OT: My cousin is carrying the Olympic Torch...

It is making it's way through Kansas City today and my cousin Dana will be one of 30 people with the honors. She recently lost her husband; he was a well known sports writer, so they have asked her to be a torch bearer. They (well, just her and her two young sons now) live in Utah, where the Olympics will be held, but they are both KC natives.

Anyway, I just thought it was kinda cool and will be a neat experience so thought I'd share. Plus, it makes me get that good patriotic feeling again. USA! USA! USA!

That's great news!

But, isn't it kinda late for them to be handing out the honors? I'm mean the torch, can't be more than a few weeks away. Not trying to rain on your parade, just wonderin'.

Cord, not sure what you mean.

Her husband died right before Thanksgiving and shortly after that she was asked to do this.

And as far as the torch being a few weeks away...again, i don't know what you mean. All I know is, it's going thru KC today. He wrote for the local paper here, The Kansas City Star, for many years; that is why she is representing him here. I don't know the rest of the route or schedule across the country.

The Olympics don't start until sometime in February.
