1 YEAR MFG warranty on both motors not 5. You can pay for the extended warranty to 5 or 6 but factory is 1 YEAR

A while back I checked the replacment parts list for the 496 Mag vs. the 496 HO. Every part was the same except the camshaft and ECU. Even the valve springs were the same. They basically undercammed the 496 to create the 496 Mag. The HO is pure profit for Mercury Marine, because it doesn't cost them a cent more to grind a cam differently or program an EUC for a 496 HO, but they charge about $4000 more than a non-HO.
Marketing at its best! Gotta love em!
