Default Hotel and boat parking suggestions for emerald coast pr?

Started calling around looking for a condo or hotel. Do most people try to find places on the bay with a slip or just find somewhere to park the boat on trailer and get a hotel wherever? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Check out:

Both have worked great for us in the past.

try the ramada beach plaza resort. it is where all of the meetings are for the poker run. If you are staying at the hotel they let you park you boattrailer next door in a huge parking lot. You can even park next to the famous OSO boat We usually rent a slip at a place that is over the bridge, i cannot remember the name but maybe someone else can fill you in on a name.

Thought about the Ramada but figured it would be to far from all the action. Isn't the after party in Destin at AJ's or somewhere around there? Plus for the same money as the Ramada I could get a nicer condo in Destin... On the other hand I've never done the run before so right now this is all guess work, thats why I'm asking for others opinions.
