I think it has for alot of people. I think with insurance prices and gas prices you will see alot more under 30 single engine boats. The Extreme with the 496 gets GREAT gas mileage and still runs 83 being a 29'6" boat.
Mike, We missed you guy's out at Rookers on Sunday. We had a great time. A few centers out ther with trip 300's.....Dave |
I went out on Friday in the afternoon and Saturday all day... With the exception of fishing boats (3 days left in blackfish season), there weren't many boats out there at all. On Friday afternoon I didn't really see any boats. On Saturday I only saw one or two HP boats between my marina and Pt. Pleasant inlet on the way out. On the way back in there were only a few boats out... Mind you Saturday was the best weather the whole weekend (88 degrees). There were lots of people at the marina just hanging out at the docks but not many people actually BOATING... :(
I burned about 50 gallons Friday and 100 gallons Saturday but the new engines actually burn less fuel at cruise speed than the old ones. :) |

F the gas prices  It won't stop me from enjoying my sport, however, I don't run 70 miles up the Sound to go boating at the east end of Long Island anymore. I keep the trips reasonable but still use it plenty.
Just keep one thing in mind. It's a hobby, not a sport. Big difference! |
Pass a grille/ ST pete beach was total mayhem this weekend. I was surprised how many people were on the water. Lots of people boating closer to home (parked on the island).
put 100 gal's in the Luhrs on fiday....$413. ouch |
Gas prices keeping me from boating? No...
A 13 year old playing travel baseball? yes... |
Well we went 200 miles on sat ( channel islands to newport and back ) so i guess not
|
Due to Gas Prices I parked the V30 and bought a new Pontoon!!!:eureka:
I boated all weekend and only used 11 gallons.:D The V30 is only coming out for Poker Runs now :drink: :evilb: |
There were more boats out on the Chickahominy River this weekend than i've ever seen. It was total chaos out here on Saturday and Sunday. It sure didn't look like anybodys worried about gas prices. I filled up yesterday and the guy who owns the marina who i've known for 20 years told me he pumped more gas Saturday than he has in any single day in the 26 years he's owned the place. $3.69 a gal.

Boating was way off in Rhode Island this weekend. I saw a bunch of go-fast boats, but the cabin cruisers were still at the dock.

most boats Ive seen at the lake in a long long time, granted most where parked in the party cove
