Nor-Tech "Predator" question
So my favorite Nor-Tech is for sale.
Isn't there some sort of rule of boating that if you've been a passenger of a boat for enough hours you automatically are assigned the title ?:D Bob, should we have a conversation about this? I'm feeling a little like a man without a country !!!! You know, I'm thinking this through. If you dropped the first number 4 I could probably swing it....As long as you pitch in for the next two sets of re-builds:evilb: :evilb: :evilb: :evilb: http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o16667-en.html |
Friggin Sweet Ride!

Why don't we just shuffle them around a bit ? We'll change the $ 425 K to say $524 ? No?:evilb: Notice I undercut Gino by $ 4K ? Had something to do with that " family boat" comment !! LOL:evilb: I will hate to part with the best boat I have ever owned and have mixed feelings about it. The time is right tho with Ron Potter soon finishing up complete re builds on all 3 engines. Time for a new one. Ready to pull the trigger on my next Nor Tech. :D Bob |
Are you laughing with me or at me ????:D
I see you completely ignored the first part of my post, so I guess an automatic assumption of title based on hours spent on the boat as a passenger(freeloader:evilb: ) is not going to happen ? It's not easy being me ! |
Hans, you are gonna hafta get in line.
Seriously, Bob- I guess it's a bittersweet decision, eh? She is one helluva ride and we can only imagine what you have up your sleeve for the future.:D |
Jay -
What's up ? How did this become about you? What about me? Seriously, that boat is the best riding most excellent bada$$ boat ever... How much can I get for a kidney ? |
Why is he selling it?

It's not easy being me ! Now for the first part of your post........ You being in Real Estate understand what squatters rights are I would assume. Is that what we are looking at here ? Nice try, Hans ! LOL:evilb: I better not come back down there and find you camped out on PREDATOR ! |

I usually keep my boats for 4 years then move on to the next one. That's where we are at now. What has caught my interest is another 50 with triple Yanmar diesels. There were a couple of them at Ft Myers poker run earlier this month and did not look out of place at all. Years ago when I ran stock powered offshores I got over to the Bahamas 5 times. I want to have a boat that will allow me to do that and go even farther down to the Islands now that I have more time. So that is the plan.:D |
Congratz Bob on your new venture! I am sure the boat U build will B awesome! Tracy:D

Seriously, Bob- I guess it's a bittersweet decision, eh? She is one helluva ride .:D Hello Jay. It was a tough decision. I know the market right now for used boats is brutal. I think I have been realisic in my asking price and have a few things going for me that will allow me to do an even better deal. The Canadian dollar vs US has strengthened by close to 10 % this year with further strengthening forecast. Since I make my $ in CAD and seem to spend them in US it helps a lot. Also by running the sale and new purchase thru Double R I will pay taxes on the difference only saving me a chunk of change as well. So, we will see. If it doesn't happen I think I can still have a good time ! LOL:D |

Hey Dawn, I should have mentioned in the add that you have graced your presence on PREDATOR and given her the seal of approval !! Now there is some added value ! LOL:D You still have some seat time coming to you from solving that skill testing question. LOL You gals from Ohio sure are smart ! You might have to collect tho on my next ride. We'll see. Hoping to do PIB at the end of July.:D Bob |
Bob,
Good luck on the sale, it's a beautiful rig, wish we could have made the poker run last year, but the wife's neck surgury pretty much squashed that. BUT, I will say that we are still having a blast in the Seadoo Sportster! And our next big boat, will be diesel powered. Thanks again, Dean |
Bob,
Found the thread! Predator is an awesome boat that has treated you well and I'm sure it was a hard decision to let her go. I regret not only never having ridden in her but never even seeing her in person. Put me on the mate's list for one of those long bahama trips if you need a hand! As an aside, DAWN, it's that time of year again for the Fox Chapel Poker Run. I can PM you the details if you want to go again! |
Craig - Id like to be there but Ill be in Ocean City that weekend.
Bob - Ill be in St Clair at the end of July .... can you make it a week earlier? :D :p |

So if you see a chance in the future just let me know.:D I have read some of your posts re: Jetboat and am glad to see you are enjoying it. Think I read you are working out on the West coast for a bit. Keep well.:D Bob |
Bob,
Wow.....does that mean that I'll be the ONLY Predator left in F.M.O.....L.O.L........Remember what we talked about....Your new boat + Naples gang as crew + Cancun = .................................................. ...shhhhhhh don't tell Hans. |

Naples gang is the perfect crew for the run to Cancun. Right, we will not tell Hans. LOL:rolleyes: |
Dam that cabin looks like a small hotel:eek: Sweet ride good luck on the sale:cool:
|
Hans, as my agent I will have to leave you in charge today as I am going to pull a disappearing act for the next 10 hrs. Be back on line late afternoon. No, don't worry - I'm not going to do any work ! LOL:D
|
Bob, you can name the next one" Work is for suckers" :)
|
"don't tell Hans"....See how you guys are ?
Just saw this as I've been "working" all day...trying to make some cash so that I can buy my favorite boat !!!!!!!!! And it's all the Naples' Gang fault to begin with...If any of you guys would step to the plate and buy some overpriced real estate from me, I'd have the money to buy the boat:D |
SCREW HANS..... FIRST BUY REAL ESTATE FROM ME. Hans could not give away water in the desert.
Bob's boat will be missed. I have been lucky enough to be on it numerous times. Its a gem. Now what about me, bob, Can I get a seat on the next bahamas/ Cancun run on the new boat or do I have take the old road and fly my plane over. Its more fun on your boat. I'm tired of flying and I don't beat you to the destination by much. Hurry up and get delivery!!!! |
Oh boy...Now I feel the love :evilb:

Since when has any boat listed for sale generated 29 posts? Certainly a great deal of interest in this boat! Perhaps the interest is really about the owner - a great guy.
Take a look at the latest Poker Runs America magazine. Bob is prominently featured for his efforts to organize the fun run to benefit Jennifur Molter. Proof of his greatness. T. |
Bob,
I hate to see Predator go, but I am sure that your next Nor-Tech will be another beautiful boat. To the next owner of Predator, I envy you! It is an incredible boat. Bob, have you already started the build? What kind of HP will those Yanmar's have? #6 Drives? Have a great summer and look forward to seeing you next fall. |
I'll definitely miss seeing that boat on G-Bay when it sells (unless somebody from around here picks it up!)
Like the ad says, probably the most photographed boat in poker run history, I can probably make a mini-album of the ones I've taken over the years! All the best with the new Nortech (can't wait to see it!) :drink: |

Hello Terry, Nor Tech has a 50 to do ahead of me yet so I have held off ordering the new boat for 30 days or so while we measure the interest in PREDATOR. At some point I will let them go ahead tho as I do not want to be without a boat for too long if it sells. I have a Formula 292 that I can use for a backup till new one is ready but it's just not the same. The Yanmars are 485 HP each. Arneson drives. 400 gal tank will give me close to a 700 mile range. I want to get the latest in navigation equipment as that side of the sport really interests me. The Garmin 6010C on PREDATOR is great and easy to use but I want to see what else is out there. It is a lot of fun putting something like this together and Nor Tech is great to work with. Not many builders want to let you customize much.:D Bob |

I'm thinking it should go to California cause I have so many incredible memories on that boat I think it will tear me apart to see it again. Probably best to just keep looking forward. :D |
Tell ya what Bob, just trade me for my cat and you can go for a Predator ride anytime ya want :) Heck, I'll even let ya keep one of Ron's 850's to drop in the cat. I would only need 2 in the floating condo anyways.

Hmmmmmm.... gonna think about that, Sean. That's my first real offer. LOL Hope to see you on the water soon.:D Are you planning on doing the run next weekend ? I may show up in the Formula. Bob |
Sorry Bob I tried to convince my wife we did not need the house, and Predator would be very comfortable to live on, I told her to think of all the money we would save on lawn and pool and yard service, but she told me after a month she would probably drown me, also I dont know how I feel about her being more attracted to the boat than me??
|
Also I had one question and let me preface this I think Predator is one of the most amazing boats I have ever seen and Nortech is an outstanding boat builder plus they are local for me. I was just wondering since you are going to trip diesels did you look at the Hustler 50 I have heard they have them running in the mid to high 80's and I know some owners who like them quite a bit?

So let's see - you buy my boat, after awhile she ends up drowning you. Then can I make a move on her? So then I got your money, your wife after a respectable period of mourning.... say a week and I have the boat back as well ! He, he. This is getting stupid. Better stop now before I lose respect if not too late.:) :). All in fun, Bob By way of Blackberry. |

In my opinion while I believe the Hustler to be a great boat, the Nor Tech is far superior.I had a close look at the Hustler diesel at the Miami Boat Show last year.I have also spoken to a friend that bought the show boat.He spoke quite highly of it BTW. The Hustler is almost 10 MPH faster but NT is closing the gap some. I find that a cruise speed in the low 70's works just fine for me. At that speed I can be in Key West in just under 1.5 hrs. Nor Tech has 9 ft beam and creature comforts are of a much higher quality. There will always be some that will not agree but that is my opinion. Having owned 2 previous NT there is a relationship and brand loyalty as well. :) Bob |
