Great interview with one of the truely great men in the history of offshore racing!

Matt Trulio did a great job but only scratched the surface in the limited space available.. If we had a hall of fame for offshore racing Brownie would be on the short list.

Congratulations

George

Uh, George, we do have one, and I am in it (1967 Gulf Marine Racing Hall of Fame) along with some other guys, named Aronow, Wynne, etc. I don't remember who they are......

Having met Brownie and shared a few laughs, I'd think that "Mister" Brown would be referring to his dad. Brownie is just, well - "Brownie".

I'll never forget his comment about making sure that all materials used in his boats had a specific gravity greater than 1.0. That way, if the boat broke up, it would sink and save everyone the embarassment of showing back up at the dock all busted up...

Keep living well, Brownie - It's the best revenge.

Great article. My favorite quote of the whole article was were he said (about Peter Hledin) "the best thing is you don't toot your own horn. That is the mark of a man."

Couldn't agree more with this comment and immediately reminded me of the extreme opposite end of the spectrum with a certain flamboyant boat builder/CEO.
