What day of the weekend does everyone prefer?

Ok, I've been wondering this for a while so I figured I'd ask...:D

I do the main part of my boating on Saturday's. Sunday's are usually local so I can chill out and rest for work on Monday. We make trips on Saturdays and usually spend Sundays rafting with friends..

It seems most people I know and see on water do the majority of their boating on Sundays.... I'm talking trips, not just running place to place locally.

What's the consesus? Why on Sundays? Do most people take off on Monday to recoop??

CigDaze 06-28-2007 09:22 AM

Saturday's the day for us. I hate Sunday, because Monday looms.
Party on Sat., recover on Sun.
:D

Sundays because I work on Saturday:(

jeff1000man 06-28-2007 10:09 AM

Most everybody I know works 6 days a week. We boat on Sunday. They recover at work on Monday.

danh63 06-28-2007 10:13 AM

i prefer Saturdays but lately seems that Sunday's is the only day I have been getting out

me too and some Mondays are a little rough, this pic is from last Monday................I named this PIC "Recovery"

Panther 06-28-2007 10:26 AM

I guess the 6 days a week seems to be a major factor... :(

I'm guessing retail or service industries??

When I was a mechanic at the marina I alternated Saturdays. Back then we didn't travel on Sunday, we stayed local because come Monday I had to lift outdrives and cylinderheads all day long......

Nowadays, Saturdays are empty on the water. We kind of enjoy it because we don't have to deal with the crowds as much. Can't beat boating during the week though...unfortunately not an option for us.

Ditto for me / us, although I typically work from "home" on Fridays. I just didn't say which "home" office I am working from - leave for lake house Friday am. for us! :D Blackberry's are the best!

sakoutis3 06-28-2007 10:47 AM

I like Saturday but I work till 1PM so my long days are Sunday.

I guess this brings up another couple of questions...

What time does everyone start their day? I usually get down to the marina around 10:30-11 am, fuel up and we're off by 11:30 - 12.

What time do you get back to the dock? If we stay local I come home whenever we feel like but, if we travel we try to leave the place between 3-5 pm so we can get home by 6-7.

Car Biz for me

One Saturday off a month but I can leave work around 3pm on Sats which gets me to the lake about 4, but Im usually off Tues and Sunday and can squeeze a Monday off here and there to make it a 3 day weekend

Queenie 06-28-2007 11:48 AM

Fridays are great, Saturday is a catch up day and then Sunday can be bad again!

We get out between between noon and 1PM, but we don't get back to our lift until after dark. If it's a flat lake and warm breeze, we'll raft out on the lake and come in around midnight.

Shore Thing 06-28-2007 12:02 PM

friday from 6pm till saturday night. I usually go out on the boat sunday's too, but its much tamer. I hate thinking about monday morning when i'm on the boat sunday.

runafever 06-28-2007 12:08 PM

Sundays have been the day for me lately but Mondays have been hurting me. I get two saturdays off a month maybe more but being in the car business is tough because Saturday is usually a big day and I sometimes have apointments. I like to turn it up a notch on Sat night and relax on Sunday

Everyday, I work right near my marina so I try to take advantage of it rather then sit in traffic. Those are mainly quick boat rides though, my main boating is usually done on the weekends as well.

High-C 06-28-2007 12:20 PM

Saturdays...

Saturdays work best but I always find myself out late on a Sunday contemplating the next day...

danh63 06-28-2007 12:34 PM

I rack my boat and they close at 11, so i don't get to stay out too late on Friday nights. Just when all the action at the docks is taking place i have to head out.

rainmn 06-28-2007 12:45 PM

Depends. I like Saturdays for the same reason as most - because I'm not yet dreading Monday work.

I also like Sunday late afternoons / evenings because I live at the shore. When I see all the people heading in, and think about the traffic on the Garden State Parkway they are about to sit in, I am remninded of why I moved here. :D

Panther 06-28-2007 01:06 PM

I get the feeling most do their boating locally??

What about those that travel say 30-60-90 miles each way "on the boat" to their destinations?

Where I'm located we have to travel a lot but the ride is the best part. Yeah, I go to the local raft ups a lot and down the river but you can't beat running an hour, hour and a half out to lunch in another state!! :D Then when you get home and the guys with the cruisers ask you were you've been... I just say, yeah we went to Long Island, New York, Barnegat etc. for a hamburger! They usually look at me with a "WTF" look on their faces...

It's all relative.... :drink: I consider a trip to be at least 45 min to an hour to my destination from the time I leave the dock.

BTW, you used to tell me how far Fire Island was, and how far a trip it was... But it was only 15-20 min futher than where we both were last weekend... :)

Now run out to Davis park or Watch Hill and see how much further it is then just the inlet. You can't look at your GPS cause you're gonna need to cross great south bay S-N-S-N to get that far east.

If I can get the plugs and oil changed early enough was thinking about running down to AC on Sat. Want to make the run?

Exactly 50 miles for us is around the corner even a 100 ain't really that far either.

jeff1000man 06-28-2007 01:25 PM

I like the sound of those TRIPS. Our lake is only 7 miles long. We rarely even get them stretched out. We make up for it with the boozin though. :drink:

I don't go as far as Sak does all the time but here are some of the trips we took the the past 3 wks.

Lucididee 06-28-2007 02:01 PM

Well, it's kinda like ..... um ........ um ............ what day are you taking me on the boat with you. I'm easy like that, I really don't have a preference! :p

A 10 minute notice is all I need to get my crap together and head to the marina. :evilb:

Bro, If you are doing AC, I am out. No friggin way am I gonna run to AC, hit the inlet, and turn around. I know that's how Mr V runs. But, if ya wanna leave around 10am, and actually go in the inlet and get lunch, and maybe have sis meet us, and then come back, and get back to Sea Bright around 4-5pm ...... that sounds like a plan. Friggin ex-racers, really just like running in circles with no actual destination or plans

But then again, MTM is actually in the state of NJ, and already invited us to meet up with him and stay the over. I guess it's 1st come 1st serve type thing. Plus, I think that sounds like more fun.

Last year when I ran to Brocco's Chuck and Billy ran out there together and went to a restaurant near Davis Park, they said it was only 20 minutes, 30 minutes tops.

I guess I'll just have to find out when we go to the Patchougue race! :drink:

It's gonna be nice on Saturday, 80 and sunny!

Jigsaw89 06-28-2007 03:43 PM

I love boating early evening on Friday's with just enough time for a 1-2hr cruise. Saturday's are even better... after we eat breakfast and load the boat (in the backyard of my shore house) we're out on the water absolutely no later than 11am. Sunday's are great too with a big family-style dinner waiting at the dock at 7-7:30pm. I don't waste my time letting thoughts of Monday ruin what I'm enjoying in the here and now.

Have a great summer!!
Dan

Saturdays for me. Work Sunday's

Strip, 7 miles wide? Dude, you can fit that lake inside the little hook that sticks out to the north in those maps.... :D :drink:

Come on up whenever you want, I told ya you have a place to stay! Then we can talk about the trips over a beer when we get back to the dock! :evilb:
