The first time I saw the Fountain is when it was delivered to my driveway! I trusted the dealer I bought it from and was extremely satisfied when I inspected everything. That's my story, taking the knowledge I have gained, I would add this to the list: shake the drive and see how looose the gimble is. Might give an idea as to how hard the boat was driven.

Don't be afraid to ask dumb questions.
I love my Mirage and the 700hp the engine makes. I had heard that the TRS was a stronger drive than the Bravo, so I thought that was good. The guy mentioned that it had a Merc trans instead of the Borg-Warner. The Merc trans is my weak link. I didn't know that the Merc won't hold up to much abuse from 700hp.
Also if it's an older boat, take a 4' straight edge with you to check for a hook or rocker in the hull. I understand a 1/6" you can live with, not much more.

My .02. For someone unfamiliar with performance boats, shop, shop and shop some more! Ask questions! Compare boats that you look at. Take notes and compare them. Talk to owners about their boat. Don't be shy, most people love to talk their boat. Good luck! Gizmo
