The irony is so thick and awesome on this one. Even he knows that if you want to move a boat, you have to come the right site, and not his cheap, lonely, knock-off playground.

When was this? I knew about speedwake but knew nothing about offshoreonly.net??? Not trying to stir up trouble just curious.

Do a metacrawler search (better than google) for offshoreonly.net. Most of the story is there

Several years ago, maybe back around '02? He tried to start offshoreonly.net and got slammed. Renamed it fastboats.info or something like that. Eventually changed it to speedwake. Was hugely obvious that he copied everything straight from OSO.

I hope Steve charged him the super duper extra special ARSEHOLE advert rate :)

It was when Jeffery (I believe OSO was still Jeffery's site at that time) started to charge for memberships in order to attach/view pictures. At the time OSO was transitioning from a hobby/club type of site to a business, and JJ was *not* happy about it. He threw a fit, said he'd never pay to view pictures, etc, then went off and built a site named.... www.offshoreonly.net that looked exactly like OSO. There were some rumors of counselors being involved, and then the site changed to fastboats.info. Then to speedwake.com.
Somewhere along the way, the concept of "speedwake supporters" came to be, where if you bought something from the speedwake store, you'd get access to premium content like certain forums, videos, and the like. I know it might *sound* familiar, but it really was and is a completely unique idea that Jeff came up with all on his own.
Of course, I'll probably get banned now...
