Looks Great!!!
I'm on the bubble of taking on a resto myself - more over the bubble, and I'm having those nervous moments of commitment.
Pics like this help.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. It took allot of hours and still has some more to go like the rubrail, full sitdown seats"looking for advice on that", and the new trailer. Also Ron @ Imco has been a real gentelman for helping me on the parts I needed.

Pantera24 07-07-2007 01:41 AM

Longblockbenny,
Great Job! ... came out real nice. Tremendo trabajo!
Have you water tested yet? speeds?
Congrats!:drink:

Angel

Longblockbenny 07-07-2007 09:49 AM

Thanks Angel , Water testing is in 3 weeks. I hope for 70 , 75 or is this is a longshot? Engine has some work on it like head work and port matching. Drive is 1 5/8 over normal height. I have B1 propellers pitch 24 and 26 to test.

You Guys have no idia what your comments means to me. It's been more than a year on this project and allot of wife's long face. But in the end I feel so good and looking forward in less than a month to test her. Oh and dont mind the trailer, I gonna buy a new one.

Pantera24 07-08-2007 11:49 PM

Hey next time I'm in Puerto Rico I'll let you know and see if I can stop by and look at all the great work you have done on your boat.

Angel

Longblockbenny 07-09-2007 02:55 PM

I'am an Inboard guy. And a fan of loud engines. Here In Puerto Rico there is no noise restrictions law "yet".

Pantera24 07-09-2007 07:23 PM

Longblockbenny please check your PM/email.
Thanks
Angel

Looks Great! Nice Job!
Love the all white look.
Set your prop shaft 4 to 5 inches below the bottom. You may need a spacer if you're higher than 4" below.
70-75mph should be no problem spinning that 26p; the 24p is going to be too small.
My 24' Super will run 75mph any day of the week with a basically stock 502mag spinning a labbed 28p B1 @ 4800-4900rpm.
I know of a 24' Monza here in CT that runs over 80mph with 500HP.
Good Luck!

Great job! I am getting ready to start restoring a '79 Monza 24. I look forward to seeing test results on yours so keep us posted. I will post pics of my project as it goes on. This is a before pic.

Longblockbenny 07-14-2007 07:53 PM

Thank you very much guys. Wow I thought the 24 was gonna be enough but you never know. Iam counting the days to get her wet. My goal is that 75+ and maybe from what you guys say it is posible. I just hope I dont have any balance issues because the boat was built for outboard. The cabin is strip down to the fiberglass and completly empty.

Longblockbenny 09-12-2007 03:45 PM

seats are being done as I type "full sit down" and I will be on the water shortly Thanks again for all the PM I recieved of this job.

bouyhunter 09-12-2007 05:26 PM

Can't wait to see the running pics.

I just started on my 24' Pantera a few weeks ago - hope it comes out just as nice as your Monza!

robltc 09-13-2007 07:37 AM

I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours, great work. I like the rigging job, very clean. Did you do the paint work yourself?

Longblockbenny 09-13-2007 05:56 PM

Yes I did the paint and the rigging myself. That is whay its been more than a year and a half in the making, no help.

Benny Jr. 12-22-2008 11:13 PM

Small updates on my project. I use to be Longblockbenny. More comming soon.

Great job, a 24' Monza was my first offshore, good I loved that boat. Brought the hull bare and did it all myself back in the early 80's - diesel of course the only way to travel!!!!

I ran that boat over to Nassau a couple times, what a great ride.

Great boat enjoy it and win a couple for Me!!!

Joe Gere

ps here is my old Monza back in the day!

Fast Shafts 12-23-2008 07:42 AM

Benny,
Looks great! What are the rules for your class "D"? In OPA, your boat would be ideal in class "6".

Hey Joe,

Diesel? That's rare. What engine and hp? What speeds did you see with that setup?

Nice boat, love the old school-style!!

Mange

HabanaJoe 12-23-2008 08:19 AM

Mange,

Old style 7.3L Navistar, PC enegine with turbo about 350 hp at3,600- 3,800 rpm's. This was before we understood OD gears so it ran 1:1 and like everyother diesel boat she ran 65 mph and that was it no matter what props.

FINALLY!! Now I know where my deck evolved from..the Monza..Here is my Twister 24'. Cool...
Sorry to hijack the thread...

Angel

HabanaJoe 12-23-2008 12:44 PM

Your right that's the deck!!!!! - I love that boat!!

When I first bought the Twister I had mixed feelings about the deck BUT it has grown on me in a big way. I've owned a number of 24x7's and I can honestly say that this little hull is one of the best...runs awesome and handles great. Attached is a pic of my daughter driving a few weeks ago.
Habana Joe what model name was the Monza you had? Monza made 2 different decks for this hull.

Angel

HabanaJoe 12-23-2008 02:04 PM

The one like yours you can see it in the pics there of the red boat.

Pantera24 12-23-2008 02:15 PM

Sorry didn't make my self clear...I know it's the red one, but I was trying to figure out the model name Monza used for it... like 24SS, SSM7 etc...

HabanaJoe 12-23-2008 02:23 PM

???? When my boat was built that was the only deck and as far as I know it was just a 24 Monza, no model name - sorry

FCMarine 12-23-2008 05:16 PM

Very clean! Do you have any interior shots or is that still a work in progress?

Benny Jr. 12-23-2008 06:57 PM

Greetings and thank you all for your nice comments. The boat has the cabin empty because we are using it for racing for now. But I have shots of the seats made custom by a friend of mine. The backseat comes off for racing. No wood in any seats, all composite materials.
