Chuck, the society we live in today with all the activists and concern groups protects the weak and stupid from Darwin!.... and unfortunately they keep reproducing!

As if that wasn't bad enough, the guy bought a boat from a company that can't spell.

(Haddam-WTNH) _ The DEP has charged 27-year old Nicholas Blaise for failure to keep a proper lookout following a boating accident near Haddam Island on the Connecticut River.

Blaise and his 5-passengers were coming from Harbor Park in Middletown and heading to the state boat launch early Sunday morning when their 25-foot vessel struck a sandbar, flipped over and then sank.

Nancy Scory of Haddam is familiar with the waters around Haddam Island and says, "You have to know the river to be on the river at night. You have to know your channels and sandbars or you're gonna have a problem."

No one was seriously injured and DEP Officer Bob Zabilansky says that the group was lucky to be in a shallow area of the river when the accident happened.

"They were in the water for some time, but it's shallow there so they were able to make it to shore and they called 911 for help. The fire department went out and rescued them," said Zabilansky.

F W Smith has been fishing and canoeing on the Connecticut River for years and says it can tricky and treacherous.

"I think people don't understand how to follow the channel. They think they can cut inside the island," said Smith.

The accident remains under investigation.
