Default mobil one extended performance?

i just got done break in and i am going to use mobil one oil in my engines, my question is can i use mobil one extended 15w50 with the gold cap? I noticed in a forum that someone said not to used the gold cap, anyone know why or does anyone else use the extended performance

I use it in my 42 outerlimits.Great oil-use it.

Aside form all the technical details the new silver cap is better thatn the older gold cap. Better base and closer to the original red cap. Check the threads in Tech section. I have always used mobile one. When the red cap went away I started using gold. Noticed increased temps and usage. Found a couple of gallons of the old red cap and used it for a change. Temps back down. Several more changes on gold and temps/usage back up. Switched to silver and all is good again.

I read that the mob 1 meant for v twin m cycles was the best to use?

Yup that was the RED cap....Now it has been replaced by the GOLD cap.

The silver is back out for around $23 for 5 qts at walmart. Hydro said the gold cap is crap. I concur.

Per the Marine Lubrication thead, Hydro stated they went to a new formula on the EP Gold Cap that is up to par.

I did just buy the Silver cap 15w50 two weeks ago at WalMart.
