I've been thinking of putting a chip in my Excursion- have been reading about them at the ford-diesel.com website, but there's a whole lot of varying opinions? I have picked up on the fact that the X needs a special one because of the security key.
What makes the one you mentioned different/better?

TO READ THE ECU CODE FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR(A SMALL WHITE STICKER WITH 4 LETTERS & NUMBERS). THIS INSURES THAT THE PROGRAM PUT ON THE CHIP MATCHES YOUR EXCURSION.

PP Race- Thanks for the info!
I wasn't looking for anything too radical, just a boost in towing performance and (hopefully) an increase in MPG. How do these chips measure up to the Banks and Western Diesels in price and performance?
Just want to get it right the first time! I think I'm going to do the "v" code springs, Helwig rear stab bar, and rs9000 shocks as well.
BTW- we'll be down in your area Feb 21-25 to hopefully get a chance to run the AT we purchased in December- maybe we can get a chance to meet?

IT IS BY FAR THE BEST ON THE MARKET. I HAD OTHERS IN OLDER DIESELS THIS ONE GIVES THE BEST ALL ROUND PERFORMANCE WITH A CONSERVATIVE PROFILE. IF YOU CHANGE EXHAUST
AND ADD AN EGT GAUGE YOU CAN GO TO A MORE RADICAL PROFILE( REALLY FOR RACE APPLICATIONS)
