Mythbusters
Did you just see the one where they try and split a boat in two, like the one that hit the piling and split to the windshield. They did it on land and pulled it up to 50 mph and still could not split it, wrecked the trailer though:D So what kind of boat was that, it was a definite go fast, looked like an older cig, apache or maybe a Donzi. It looked good until they tried twice to split it, then they dropped it from a crane from 100ft on its nose. It still only crushed about 5 ft. or less. The myth was busted.

yeah, the were going at it from a funny angle though. It wasn't the exact science, but still fun to watch!

Bad night of boatting

I am no hydrodynamic engineer, however I do have a background in industrial design and I have to say that test was bad on so many levels. Water is a heck of alot different than air.
First, the water pressure on the outside of the hull would keep the boat from veering so much to one side or the other upon impact. Second when the hull is compromised, the water rushing in will act like a wedge creating pressure and thus help split the boat more. |
I did see that one. I do love me some Mythbusters.
Tom A., you should write the show. They have had shows where viewers write and and tell them how they did it wrong. Then they will redo the myth. |
I already sent them an email when the show first aired. I never got a response!:angry-smiley-044:

I didn't get to see the whole thing on the Donzi site. What kind of boat did they kill?

That show has evolved so much in its time, mostly those guys and thier friends are full of themselves. :(
