Hey give us a break. Although I sold the boat and plan on a new one in the spring I couldn't use it now anyway. No boat, no stories. No problems, no parties, no nothing. Man winter sucks, especially when there is no snow. :mad:

I must admit, I never DREAMED that when I posted my last Manatee topic, "FIGHTING THE USFWS", that it would end in a RAGING DEBATE ABOUT PALESTINE, complete with threats to Members of OSO? :eek: That's why I deleted it yesterday, it had nothing to do powerboating at that point! And that's all everybody wants to do here @ OSO, is go powerboating!! :D At least that's WHY I joined OSO!
IN FACT, its' going to be 75 Deg. today, I received a "Stop Work" notice this morning on the contract I was working on , and...... I'M GOING HOME AND LAUNCHING THE VELOCITY! Down to Sebastian Inlet we go!!! :D

I have been on this site for about 1.5 years now, and talk about boats/engines 99% of the time. The other 1% is because I usually am responding to what someone else has said. As the membership grew, for about the past year I have noticed several topics within this forum that are and have been completely unrelated to boating---even as I speak. I guess it's our choice weather to respond or not to respond.

All our boats on this side of the country are wrapped up for the winter. You have the sunshine and warm temps. Go boating and come back and fill us in. So we can live boating through you for the next couple months.

I have tried to adopt that same policy, not so much about certain topics, but rather to certain posters. It seems to help keep everyone's bloodpressure down a little lower.

Now, I can relate to what you guys are saying. But you just can't talk boats 24/7. There has to be some kind of diversity. Yes, some of the topics get a bit out of hand. But, Jeffrey does a pretty good job monitoring the board! I also feel, the leniency he gives for freedom of speech, is what makes this board what it is today,
Diversity and freedom is what keeps us coming back, and makes us feel like we are all a family.

There are sections in the forum for only boating related topics; I feel if that is what your looking for, then that is where you need to go.

Lets stop the complaining and have a good time!!!
I have met more wonderful people here, than I would of ever thought when I first joined!

When it comes to the things of God, it's hard for me not to speak up. I usually don't bring it up because I understand that it's NOT always appropriate and I know and realize that. I know that a boating forum may not be the best place to do it, but it's when someone else brings up the topic of God(good or bad), that I respond because it is an interest of mine. Not only is it an interest of mine, but it's more like a part of who I am...it's in my heart and in-grained in me. As a Chirstian, and though I am human and make mistakes, my intent is not out to condemn anyone, or call them names. Neither do I try to stuff God and the bible down anyone's throat...it is their choice as to accept it or not, but as long as they're willing to dicuss it I am only guilty of repsonding to others with what I believe is the Truth. I am sure most of you probably don't have a problem with that.

What does bother some or most of you is that it was brought up on a boating forum, and I truely understand that and accept some of the responsiblility with it, however I was not the one who brought up the subject of God or the Christians, but was merely responding to it as I believe. For that, I am guilty. I guess I try to look at the BIG picture and what life is really about...we can't ignore it forever and when these deep matters pop up it upsets people because they are the true issues of the heart. Even now I am sure that what I am saying is offensive to others but I truely mean no offense. As I have stated in an earlier post; 99% of the time I'm talking boat/engines on this forum...the other 1% is what I am talking about right now.

I agree with RiverGirl, if you don't like it, don't read it. It would be nice if people could put a little more explanation in their topic lines. This would help everyone find the threads they want to read.

I agree that this is alot different from last winter. Not calling it a bad thing, just a lower number of topics that interest 'me' this year. Last year I spent at least 2 hrs to read the all the topics of interest, now 15-20 min, at most. I pass over 3/4 of todays topics in the Gen. section.
Always read the funnys though! You still gotta have laughs.
