It would take a lot of HP($$$) with a single and alot of stess on the drive(if you can keep it alive) not to metion docking a 30' boat with a single

All of these opinions are great, but no one has suggested driving both. I'm guessing the ride won't even compare to each other. I've got alot of wheel time in the 292, but none in a 31. You owe it to yourself to drove both.

I have owned two Formulas and one Sonic. Of the two choices I would go with the Sonic. The newer Sonics are put togather with much better hardware than the older ones. No the fit and finish will not be that of a Formula, but you are going to get real tired of walking on your knees. Unlimited Marine in Jamestown, KY has a new 07 31 Sonic with 496's in stock. Ask for Carl.

After looking at a 29 Fastech before my current boat, 33 Powerplay (31 Sonic was 2nd on the list) I would've rather kept my 25 Sunsation! Formula builds a great boat and high quality too... but the cabin is small and the comfort sucks!

Sonic all the way!!!!!

Why aren't you comparing the 31 Formula to the 31 Sonic? Seems like apples and oranges to compare the 29 Fastech to a 31 Sonic.

I had a 31 Formula and they stopped making them in 2003. My buddy has a 28 Sonic and the cabins were similar.......I'm willing to bet the 31 Sonic is certainly bigger than my old 312 fastech.

I'd go sonic also and I have a formula now but the formula 29's aren't true 29's I believe and the sonic is a true 31..
By the way here's a pic of the 42 Sonic(the other one was photoshoped) and my brother Slomans 31...
