A bit of history for sale- I've heard them run before; quite an awesome sound!

I wonder why the Navy rebuilt it in 1969. Wern't many of the PT boats destroyed by then and the only people that had them were some of our asian allies that used them for costal patrol?

I'm pretty sure the Navy did not have an PT boats in comission in 1969. That was the year my father retired from the Navy. As I recall, they had one PT boat that was conferted to what they called a "Crash Boat", when dad was stationed at the Mine Defense Lab in Panama City, Florida.

I have a boat magazine from the late 70's or early 80's somewhere with an ad with 4 or 5 decomissioned PT boats for sale in San Diego . Someone I've met at that time here in Vancouver bought one of them .It was either a 75 or 85 footer . He converted the boat with a massive superstructure to a pleasure charter , and named it "Magnum Force" . He moored it at the Bayshore Inn marina for a long time . I've lost contact with the person and haven't seen the boat for a while either .
