With all of the recent incentives, I decided to turn in my Tahoe lease for a new vehicle. I was pulling about 2000# over my tow limit with the boat empty, 2800# full. After looking at the options for what would fit the bill, I ended up with a ¾ ton Avalanche. Say what you will, this thing rocks. Rated for 10K towing, a full back seat and dry, locking storage in the bed, 8.1L with lousy mileage, and still (barely) fits in the garage…what’s not to like? Yeah, yeah, looks aren’t everything…

I would like to see the 2500 avalanche with a lift kit and big tires. I think that would be a bad looking ride. anyone got any pics of that combo yet? Congrats on the new ride bill

If you don't personally like the looks of them, why didn't you just buy a 2500 Chevy cc with 8.1 and a hard tonneau cover? Same things you say you like about the Ava, and you don't have to haul half your stuff inside your truck, cause you have a 6.5' bed. At least I thought the Avalanche had a lot shorter bed then the full size, I could be wrong though.

Personally, I like the look of it. I thought about the CC, but it wouldn't fit in the garage. I leased it, so getting a hard cover for a pickup would come straight out of pocket. It's got a 5' 3" bed that converts to 8'1", which a pickup with a 6 1/2 foot bed can only do with the tailgate down. You can feed sheets of plywood into it, close the tailgate and everything's still protected and locked. Ideally I would have gotten a 3/4 ton Suburban, but comparably equipped is arounnd $6000 more. And all that were available in stock were loaded to the gills, so the difference was more like $8-10K. That's a hell of a lot for a third seat

Bill,
You didn't really buy one of those did ya??
I think they look too much like an Aztek, I much prefer the 2500 HD with the Turbodiesel, now that looks pretty cool, and I'm a Dodge guy!

There was a dark blue one at the Kansas City Sport Show, it was 4x4 and they had painted all of the lower plastic the same color blue! It looked great!! It had about a 4 inch lift with wheeles and tires! I didn't care for them much at first but now they are growing on me!!
