Default 1997 Baja Outlaw 36

Looking at one here local its a 1997 Baja Outlaw 36 with the SST Package, it has twin HP500 Engines in it All new gelcoat in 05, new interior, new livorsi gauges, 120 hours on engines, and 520 on boat, comes with triple axle trailer. Guy is wanting around 54k...could probably talk down but just wanting to know if its even close to a good deal or what...I'm looking to move up from my 1999 Baja outlaw 29...

Let me know what you guys think, thanks guys...

It doesn't look bad in my opinion. And I'm not usually a Baja fan, but I did own one.
The pictures look very clean, and if you can verify everything done to it, and in as good shape as the pictures, looks pretty good to me.

And I like the "refrigerator white" look.
You were asking for opinions, right?
Good Luck.

Boat was on ebay a while back. Maybe 6-12 months ago. I sent him an ebay message about the engines. They are not HP500's as I advised/called him on. They have stock cast iron exhaust and an HP500 never had them and if it did it would revert water. The carbs are not painted blue and the top water hoses are usually SS braided.
His response was he bought it that way and he thought they were hp500's.

I would also have to question why a 1997 boat would need to be completely gel coated.

I believe it was in California and sold to the guy that has it in AZ. I remember because of the cool added supports on that trailer. If you do a search on here you should be able to see what he paid. I remember it was about as low as I had seen a 36' outlaw go for (I don't think it was as low as $54k however).

That is quite a bit of boat for that price but I would have concerns about the drives as well. If the engines had to be replaced, it makes you wonder how the drives were treated.

I think that boat was the one that had bottom paint. Maybe that is why they did new gel. If it is the one I'm think of, it did have hp500s. Someone could have bought new carbs and not painted them. It needs headers.

The 1997's had some stringer issues as well. Make sure to check them out/ get a good survey.

I really want to move up to the 33..the 36 is a step up from that but its alot cheaper than any 33's I've came across.
