Fastest 30+FT hull for $25K or less??????

Are there any 30+ft boats that will outrun a 32 hustler with the same power????? Im looking to spend less than $25K for a boat without power.........that is what I can buy a hustler for.....I have a pair of 500HP motors to put in whatever I get

Sick Stinger 10-08-2007 04:15 PM

Any pics of the boat love to see the hustler. I know where you can get a nice 572 with a blower and intercooler for 7500

Chris Sunkin 10-08-2007 04:41 PM

Stop kidding yourself- you'll never buy a boat ;)

And, yes- a Velocity 30 will walk away from the Hustler with the same HP.

Lucky Strike Jr 10-08-2007 04:47 PM

I think a 30/31 Sutphen will run with it.

302Sport 10-08-2007 05:01 PM

go to the hustler forum i have some pics there.......i know a velocity will walk away from it.....i dunno about a 30 sutphen though, maybe

Jassman 10-08-2007 05:04 PM

I think you should post this on the A.T. board and see how many responses you get.:food-smiley-007::D

302Sport 10-08-2007 05:51 PM

actually this hustler is a six pack boat and ive wanted one ever since i saw the jesse james active thunder.....that is one badass boat, does anybody know where it is currently?????

BajaFresh 10-08-2007 06:19 PM

Superboat Y2K? I don't know, just guessing but I know they go pretty good.

TexomaPowerboater 10-08-2007 06:43 PM

How in the hell are we supposed to find out without anybody posting any numbers

302Sport - Well hot stuff:cool:whats the best speeds you've seen in a 32 hustler with any power?

RollWithIt 10-08-2007 07:14 PM

I'll stir the pot:D

How bout a 32 Fountain??

302Sport 10-08-2007 07:17 PM

840HP Arneson's = 122MPH
750HP Arneson's = 115MPH
600HP Arneson's = 104MPH
600HP Bravo's= 92MPH
525HP Bravo's = 87MPH
500HP Arneson's = 86MPH
500HP Bravos w/standoffs = 82MPH
500HP Bravos =78MPH

Ive never been on a 32, one of my good buddies has a 344 Cheetah with 500's that runs high 80's all day, sometimes low 90's.......

A 32 hustler is more comparable to the 35 Fountain. Sorry, but the 32' Fountain includes the platform. The 32 hustler is 32' without a platform.

TeamSaris 10-08-2007 07:33 PM

33 Powerplays run well. The 32 Hustler is one bad ass machine:cool:

I believe that the 32 Hustler was at one time the world-record holder for speed in a v-bottom. Powerboat Mag did an article about that boat years ago and they loved it- I'm sure I still have the issue somewhere.
I've never heard a bad thing said about that hull. I think the 32 Active Thunder would be a very comparable boat for true 32's, although I'm not sure if anyone has pushed one well into the triple digits like the Hustler.

berns29scarab 10-08-2007 07:40 PM

i've been in the boat he's referring to on numerous occasions. before it was sold to the current owner she had 540 bulldogs in here making just under 600hp...best we got out of her was i beleive 91-92 mph...was 3-4 years ago. that was an AWESOME boat. spent many a day in the Atlantic soaring her through 4-6's and occasionally some bigger. no comparison between a 32 and a 344 in my opinion. the 32's were built like bricks, no steps and were rock solid.

Griff 10-08-2007 07:44 PM

A 32 active thunder will run 80+ mph with 500hp's and if its 100% dialed in(audactity) will run 86mph.
If you start talking stepped hulls, there are plenty of boats that are faster and bigger with equal power. My friends 33AVH ran 80mph with stock 502mpi's and boxes with labbed props. A T/S top Gun will run 82+ with 500's. A 353 Formula will run 82+ with 500's. The list goes on and on.

302Sport 10-08-2007 07:49 PM

32Storm.....The boat Im talking about has no power....I know there are a ton of newer stepped boats that will outrun a 32 hustler with the same power.....Im just asking about anything that is in the price range of this hustler without power which is $25K........

RollWithIt 10-08-2007 07:54 PM

32storm.. You forgot to mention the compensation for the beak as well. :) I always compare one size up in the fountains for that reason.

How would a 31 Sonic SS compare?

Buddy OO 10-08-2007 08:08 PM

Activator will be hard to beat

RollWithIt 10-08-2007 08:19 PM

To be able to answer this question properly. We need to know how much you are looking at with the boat and power combined. $25k with another ??K in power. Then we can say what is out there in that price and size range. Otherwise, its a loaded question.

Indy 10-08-2007 08:28 PM

JROMY's 33 PowerPlay with 525s runs 87 gps with stock props. Not sure what the Hustler runs but this is a good baseline for comparison. Oh...they do VERY well in rough water too...

jafo 10-08-2007 08:40 PM

[QUOTE=302Sport;2299632.Im just asking about anything that is in the price range of this hustler without power which is $25K........[/QUOTE]

Probably not, and if the survey is clean, it's a pretty decent deal. Rest assured you're going to have a lot of money in it once you repower and re-rig it, comparable to what a running boat will cost you without all the agony and work. Looking on down the line if you ever decide to, resale is VERY tough on six-pack boats since your prospective buyer base is quite small.

302Sport 10-08-2007 08:45 PM

I have a pair of 500HP 468's that I can throw into whatever I get.......and I am willing to spend around $25K on the boat without power.........so my question is, are there any 30+FT boats that I can get for less than $25K without power, that will outrun a 32ft Hustler.........it just took me like 10 min to fig out how to word that.......thanks jafo haha i knew somebody would understand what i was tryin to get at sorry i worded it all f'ed up

Have it surveyed!
Then buy it!

The 32 Hustler is a great boat.

I miss my old buddy!

I ran 117 with this it was so easy a Caveman
could do it:D

JCs went 115 with 1050HP..... all we need is one motor:rolleyes:.

RollWithIt 10-08-2007 08:52 PM

Power is a non issue then. Basically, what hulls would be faster and could you get one for under 25K. I think that would be a tough find. But I wish you luck.

:cool-smiley-011:With engines already lined-up, add some good drives and that thing will have some serious flash! A little hot to the touch in the noon sun, but a definite head-turner.
The 32 Hustler, 32 AT, and Sutphens are the three boats on the short list when we get ready to pull the trigger again- they are 3 of the best in the rough.
I agree with you on the Jesse James boat- I have no idea where it wound up, and the graphics weren't for everyone, but I thought it was unique. If you buy that Hustler. keep us all posted on its progress!
Jim

RollWithIt 10-08-2007 09:05 PM

The closest I found on the OSO classifieds in a quick search were two 33 Fountains with power for 32K and a 38 Scarab without power for 28K. Just for comparison.

Griff 10-09-2007 12:02 AM

For 25k, you're not gonna find much that is very nice even without power. The Jesse James boat was about 50k less power. If the 32 Hustler is decent, I'd jump on it.

JCPERF 10-09-2007 12:34 AM

Had a customer with a 32 Hustler.I think a 13 foot Boston Whaler rides better.:Whatever:

That comment might break out the :food-smiley-007: :D
I've never heard anyone complain about the ride of a 32 Hustler, let alone compare it to a 13' Boston Whaler.
Weren't the Hustlers built in your area (LI)- would you mind elaborating on that comment a little? Just a little curious since that it is one of the boats I was considering......

If you boat in more than a 2 foot chop, buy the Whaler

Jeff your too f'n funny.
Whats up w/ OTC? back in NY? ;)

Btw, 302, just buy it before someone else does.
And a Y2K w/ a 525 will beat it... that'll run low 80s w/ 1 engine... you'll be running mid to upper 70s.

According to JC, if you want to be faster than the 32 w/a better ride, maybe you should put the 468s in a 13 whaler.

My buddy has his 32 Hustler up for sale now it's 85+ mph. I've never been in a more unstable boat at such a speed. I think it rides like crap at high speeds very dangerous if you ask me.

Smarty 10-09-2007 08:26 AM

$25 K - and you have the hardware/engines to put it all together...buy it.

Jessie James is owned by a friend of mine and he keeps it on Grand lake in Oklahoma.

I'm glad to see a pic of that boat again- I know its whereabouts were in question for a while. GLOC was a favorite destination of mine when I lived in Tulsa!:cool-smiley-011:
