Finally.....
3 Attachment(s)
Well gentlemen after a looooonnnggggg time of being boatless I, along with my brother Clint, have jumped back into the HP boating world head first. We closed the deal this evening on a 1996 38' Scarab!!!! The boat has twin Merc. 500 HP's (aftermarket springs and exhaust), pre lube oil pressure pump, bravo one drives (150 hours) w/ showers, spinning 4 blade Bravo 1 24p props, 280 Kplanes, Gaffrig gauges, Kiekhaefer controls, Garmin GPS, AC, fridge, Extreme Marine swim platform, bow cover and cockpit cover, like new bimini, and beautiful shiny gel coat all the way around.
In the words of my good buddy Mr. Ed Cozzi, I was told "If you don't buy this boat I will." Ed completed the survey and sea trial on the boat today and he said it runs strong, handles flawlessly and is a great deal for a really nice boat. We are not going to pick it up until the first week of November due to our schedules but I know we will get some good time in when we do pick it up. Thank you Ed for all your help. I will post more pics when we get the boat home. I do want to say R.I.P. to the poor gentleman that I bought the boat from. He passed away just Saturday from cancer. I know he will be happy that his boat will be taken very good care of. Here's a couple of pics for now....enjoy!!! :ernaehrung004: |
welcome back to the B.reak O.ut A.nother T.housand owners club
|
So true...:D
It does seem that as time goes by another thousand won't get you much in this hobby. It should be break out another two thousand (minimum) and we will just start spelling it BOATT.....:p Thanks bro....I been waiting or this day for a long time. Chuck |
Congrats on the new purchase, it's a beautiful boat. Looks very clean in the pics.:ernaehrung004:

Congrats Chuck and best of luck.

Oh yeah, I hope your sister in law is not a b*tch! |
.........and I hope your brother pays his side of the bills better than mine does!
|
Dats NIZE. What is the beam on that boat Chuckster?
|
CONGRADS and Welcome to the HP boating world. Just remember to keep an extra $1000 for the quick repairs, "BOAT" (bring out another thousand :D. (just playin) Love the boat and the colors, one of my favorite color combos on the scarab.
|
Hey man congrats! Glad to hear that you finally got what you wanted! Going to have to tell those guy's in your 'hood with the fountains and cigs. that there is a new guy in town. :D You could pick it up this week and make the wooden boat fest this weekend! Can't wait to see it!
|
Great looking boat!! Congratulations!
|
Nice Boat.....but also it should be BOATING
B.reak O.ut A.nother T.housand I. N.eed G.as!!! |
sharp boat congrats.Love those colors.
|
Looks very nice. Congrats. I think the B.O.A.T. acronym applies to non-perfromance boats. That probably will barely get you a tank of gas in that beast.
|
Looks very sweet.:cool-smiley-011:Congrats:ernaehrung004:
|
Always had a soft spot for the Scarabs. It's a good looking one for sure.
And in the HP world, if you're spelling BOATT, it's "Break Out Another Ten Thousand". :D |
Wooooo Hoooooo!!!!!!
Thanks for all the replies guys. We got a hell of a deal on it and everything just fell into place. We searched far and wide for a boat that had everything that we wanted with nice paint and colors for a reasonable price and this one kept coming back to us. It seemed that all the boats we saw that we liked in our price range had ugly azz color schemes. When we saw the colors on this one it definately caught our attention. Ed told me that the paint looks like it is only a few weeks old. The gel has a great luster and has been taken very good care of. There are a couple of small things that need attention but overall she is a very sweet ride. We are dying to go pick it up but I am not getting off of work until the 25th. :(
November can't get here soon enough!!!! Let the fun commence!!!!!:party-smiley-048: Chuck |
With the Extreme Marine swim platform the dimensions are 39' 8" X 8'.

Congrats!!!!
Sounds like you got one hell of a deal. Also, sounds like the 2 issues I pm'd with you about were already taken care of. Have fun!!!! Now make some plans for next Summer and trailer that thing up to LOTO. |
Thanks Griff. Ed said the engines are perfect. They need nothing internally. They pulled strong and at the same strength. We are very happy with this deal. We will definately be making a few runs next year and we can't wait to meet some of our OSO brethren.:D
|
Congrats man. Can't wait to see it on the water around here.

Welcome to the board bro!!! Now you just need to upgrade your membership so you can see all the good sh!t!!!
Come on November!!!!:ernaehrung004: |
Congrads on the new boat :D Hope to see in lake soon:ernaehrung004:
|
Chuck has made a sweet deal on a great boat. The seller worked for Mobil 1, so the engines have automatic pre-lubers on timers when you turn on the ignition keys. The engines sounded great and effortlessly climbed-up to top RPMs with no blowby or smoke. The heads have been done with premium aftermarket valve springs, retainers and locks.
The bottom has no evidence the boat was ever "cowboyed" in rough water. Chuck may have a little trouble if he's stopped on the water...the flares expired the year the boat was built! (1996). |
Not to worry Ed.....I have already ordered a new kit complete with flares. Thanks again for going above and beyond for us. We really appreciate your honesty and integrity.
Please email me a copy of the full survey when you get a chance. ED IS THE MAN!!!!!:party-smiley-048: |
Good looking boat. I am jealous now. Looks like I missed it by just a little. Congats on a good buy.
|
Yeah Jeff I knew it wouldn't be up for long so we jumped on it right away. If you ever get down to New Orleans let me know we will take you out in the lake. Oh and bring those engines you have!!!! :ernaehrung004:

Whats the power on those? He has 2 that he is building for his Skater that will make over 3000 each :D. Twin turbos, I don't know the rest of the specs. I just found out that the throw down Scarab I bought over the weekend will need a short block installed. Good thing I have a couple extra engines in my garage to put into it. :hitfan: |
We really wanted a Cig but we didn't want to pay 70-90k on a boat that was a minimum of 15 years old. What really killed us was the insurance prices. It is absolutely ridiculous down here right now.
We could have bought a Cig but after the insurance premium was paid we wouldn't have any gas money!!!:D We found a really sweet deal and we couldn't pass on it. I am glad we opted for a bigger boat. I think almost 40' of boat is perfect for where we live. We can run in the Gulf down to Florida if we want and still be comfortable. I still love that Bullet though!!! You did really nice work on that boat... That thing is gorgeous!!!:ernaehrung004: Chuck

You can set a mixed drink on the dash and run the boat and not spill a drop. I mean glass of water. :ernaehrung004: |
