So, at those speeds how do you prevent a V bottom from prop walking and spinning around. They have the problem on bass boats and this is 15-20 MPH faster.

Driver

When I was holding our Rumble on the River in Ky on the Ohio River, we always had a GPS run.

Couple of bucks in the kitty got u a hand held GPS for 15 minutes.

No rules, just bring it back w/your best number.

The best year for that event (176 boats), we had rain a coupe days earlier so there were current/eddies making the boats do goofy things at WFO on the River.

Fastest guy was in a 19’ STV tunnel boat and a Diamond Marine drag motor.
He went 128.
Was a friend of mine from Fla who had no problem telling me he didn’t like the current.

After his run while BSg w/him at the ramp, another friend of mine was coming down river in a 19’ Allison vee bottom w/a 2.5 liter Merc at 10k, foot on the floor and boat was done accelerating.

A tug was just passing the ramp w/a load of barges strapped to his bow.
He was at idle speed but w/a dozen barges w/flat, straight bows pushing a big bow wave.

We watched our friend coming from behind him (could hear him for 2 or 3 mins before you could see him) in his Allison knowing his time was up for his run and knowing he would have to abort at/before the barge wake.

Timing put the barge straight in front of us at the ramp when our buddy caught him.
The freagin guy never lifted!

He passed the barge, did a u turn and headed back to the ramp w/our GPS to hand to me.

I swear turd balls rolled out of my pant leg when I read 126 on the GPS!

You fly them you don’t drive them.

My buddy that just ran the 128 in the tunnel couldn’t believe his eyes.
He gave me back his top gun award and said to give it to the guy in the Allison, then told me to go find a wheel barrow for his balls!

Theres a saying for Allison owners/drivers (I owned one) that says, “ I drive an Allison because I can drive an Allison”.
That statement applies to fast vee bottoms in general.

The Tuff pad is completely flat, appears to be 12-18” wide, and has a chine running down its center which would appear to add some directional stability.
