I was 5 and you were 15 when all this was happening....neither of us worked there or owned the company.... I'm sure we both have friends/relatives who were there and similiar to the old Indian campfire stories about Geronimo etc. the stories have their place... :hitfan:

It's just not worth arguing anymore....:Whatever:

note the smiley...and put your sarcasm filter at full tilt ;)

instead lets wonder/search where that Squadron/Apache is...

Very interesting and cool. I do wonder why Mr. McManus never completed his website or even updates it...I wonder if he would be as big or popular as Outerlimits if he tried to market the Apache business...

Nah. Not in today's climate. Quantity and flash rule over quality. You need step-bottom flyweight boats that aren't worth a damn in real water to sell in the high-end these days. That's the antithesis of Apache.

As was said before, McManus is doing refits and repairs. Folks who own Apaches know where to find him. More website would only bring more inquiries on new boats- 95% from tire-kickers.

Interesting...he fought hard and spent big $$$$ to keep the name, so why not make $$$ with the name? You make sense, but his actions do not....weird?

Now which one? Thereīs two Apache 33 models said to be..a wider version and a narrower?
So which one is a spinoff a 33 Flatdeck Cig and which one is a spin off from a 35 Mistress ?

Not to sound skeptical or judging anyone but If I was building boats especially in the early days I surely would try to rent/loan a mold ( at least while getting started or building one-offs )and do a few hulls.
Iīm positive Don A did rent his molds too if they werenīt used much.

Iīm just trying to trace the history here thatīs all, maybe even help future restorers/boatbuilders.

A few years back I was told the 33 Apache was a damed up version of Don's winningest boat his 39 Squadron with some freeboad added also. This was the narrow beam not shure of were the wide beam version came from.

Thanks!

Although it doesn't predate the Squadron, the "Legend of Apache" video by Big Seas Productions also documents the history quite well! All the footage is original.

Don't know about that but the 39 Squadron certainly wouldn't be Don's winningest design- so few were made and even fewer were race boats. My guess would be the 35.
