Apache To Guardado

Somebody help keep me from doing something silly. I just dropped the price of the Apache to 149K in the classifieds to see if we can move it before Key West. If not, it looks like it will be staying down there at Guardado after Key West to have the cockpit altered and a cabin installed. I hate to cut this boat up, but it is going to come to that unless somebody takes it! I got an e-mail back from Eddie today and he said that they can take it in and begin immediately! This is the last shot if you are interested or want to throw out an offer.

Not buyers "remorse" exactly ... Cliffords just kind of in the "doghouse" with me currently thats all ..... I couldn't do this one anyways ... BUT , if someone was looking for a big Apache with blown 1000's and dry sixes ... thats one helluva lotta boat for the $$$ ! :ernaehrung004:

Good luck with the sale Will !

bobkatz 10-23-2007 09:43 PM

I can't believe that price!!!! That is an awesome boat, for that kind of money you couldn't even come close to getting anything like that. Dry sixes, 1000's, 45' apache!!!!!!! I can't believe someone hasn't jumped on it yet. If you do get rid of it, what is going to be its replacement?

Hmmmmmmmmm If comparing the two offshore sins of selling it for $149,000 or letting Guardado take a race boat and put it through rehab to fit into a new lifestyle? I'd have to say selling it for $149,000 you would never sleep again. :D

Guardado should take the 45' into protective care immediately!:D:ernaehrung004:

I'm sure you'll do the right thing.........:D decisions decisions

Good luck

wananewboat 10-24-2007 07:22 AM

If you sold it, what would you get that would be any better? I have always wondered, are you better to get a classic that you can always repower and rerig or get something that is going to depreciate faster than the boat can go.

open87 10-24-2007 09:13 AM

if no one jumps on that deal ,then , the market is dead...you can not buy the driveline/rigging and trailer for that price..

I don't care who you are, that's funny right there! :D It's like you and I talked about before. How smart is it to sink another large chunk of money into something that I already can't sell for half of my current investment? Don't get me wrong. If it doesn't sell I will be taking that plunge and keeping it, more than likely, forever. Hell, this is my dream boat. I always wanted a big Apache, but I have to debate between what is emotionally the right move and what is logically and financially the right move.

When I first bought the boat it was exactly what I wanted and I planned to keep it forever, but now my priorities have changed. I am married and have a family to think about now. So basically I am or could be screwed either way. I either sell it and take a tremendous hit or keep it, dig the hole deeper and hope that nothing ever changes in our lives that would make us have to sell it. To me it really sucks either way. I really want to keep it and change it, but is that the smart and responsible thing to do? I don't know.

That is my exact dilemma. I honestly don't know what move is better or what we would get into if the Apache sells. Maybe another performance boat with a full cabin, bathroom, AC, etc...or possibly a cruiser with all the comforts of home. I honestly don't know. I am so sitting on the fence trying to figure out which way to go and what is the right move. I got three calls just today from different people that claim to be interested and want to see it while we are in Key West. I gave them my contact info, so we will see what happens. Like I said all summer, if a buyer comes along that will make my decision for me.

Lucky Strike Jr 10-24-2007 09:25 PM

Cut your loses and move on. I have a nice 38 TS w/525's that is a bargain. It has your name on it Will!

excalibur32 10-25-2007 07:19 AM

Wait and think. How many marriages have broken up since that Apache was built? The Apache is still here, and hasn't been cut up yet.

Biggus 10-25-2007 07:36 AM

I say keep the Apache the way it is for those days out with the guys and take the $$$ you were going to spend on it and put it toward a cruiser.

Boats are tools, you gotta pick the right tool for the job.

Thought he wanted a cabin with amenities like headroom, enclosed head and a/c. I haven't see a TG with all of those features.

Eric.

Speedo your brutal, keep it coming! The LS gang is in the car business so they buy and sell everything so for them to sell another TG certainly doesn't mean they are done with the brand (Steve has 9 I think). They buy the right TG's for the task at hand, the last one being a poker run boat. I would expect more Cigarettes to come from the LS boys........

I totally see your point and understand the rationalization either way..... tough choice...

I've often thought about getting a Formula SS in place of my 36'..... Yeah we'll be slower but could still cruise at 40-45 mph with AC, head, big cabin, large cockpit for entertaining etc..... But then I think about how much I love my Apache......

I've decided to hang on to it as long as I possibly can and hopefuly by then the kid(s) will have grown up some more....:p

tough choice....

If any of us truthfully answered these questions and followed the logic.................none of us would be allowed to own boats :D

I think that's the only reason someone came up with the word (passion) and gave us a meaning. This way we can make these choices with a clear conscience and confidence in doing so. :ernaehrung004:

DON"T sink more money into it! You won't increase the value at all, and might in fact hurt it.

Keep it as is, or cut your losses.

IMO

I bought a boat with a big cabin and AC so the family could overnight in it (the Formula 402) and in the 4 years wehad it we never used the cabin to stay on it once. I went back to a boat with no cabin (no maintenance) that I use 75% of the time by my self. The only thing I regret is not buying Daddy Cool when it was available (although now that it has reliable power I like the Scorpion more everytime I take it out ... which lately has been 3-5 times a weekend!!).

Jr is a collegeman now... you kids should be sucking up!

Trade for a cruiser?
1. be honest w/ yourself... you gonna sleep on it... ever?
2. why own a hp boat??? cuz they are fun to drive!

Before you sell it, figure out what you want to do w/ a boat.
i've got too many friends in the market for a boat, and none really know what they want out of them... silly.

Me... i want to be able to rip it up... legally. fast cars are becoming a waste... just not safe or legal on the roads.

Same here storm. I also agree with not throwing anymore money into it. I wish I knew someone to buy Hot Ducks boat but Im drawing a blank. Someone has to buy it now with that price. I think one reason why it hasnt sold is by in that price range people dont have tons of money to spend after they buy the boat. For instance the up keep for 1000 blower motors, number sixes, and gasing up the beast. Dont get me wrong its an awesome boat but then the people with more money buy something newer with stock power and runs the same speed or faster. Also you need a big rig to tow that around when wanted. Storage is also expensive for a 45ft boat as well. Just my .02. Good luck with the sale.
