They all use the same GPS chip so the differences are in the software, maps and user interface.

If Tom Tom has free updates buy that.

I bought a $200 Lowrance since that whole GPS is just
a little more than Garmin software. At that price I'll buy
a new GPS every couple of years for updates just to avoid
the Garmin update ordeal.

No need to debate this subject with me as I own more
Garmins than anyone and have owned them longer and
used them for more things (automotive, topographic, marine).

Lowrance is my next prime supplier.

Lowrance topo and marine maps are way better than
Garmin too.

The garmin updates itself , if you can handle plugging in a usb cable to your pc , you're all good. The new lowrance stuff is good too , have to agree there.

My sister worked for Pfizer and got the Tom Tom for going over quota....long story short we went skiing over the winter and it worked great, much better than my Garmin Marine/Road gps.

I used the Garmin Nuvi in a rental car once....it told me to turn after I needed to turn..didn't like it.

The touch screen on tom tom unit is very easy to navigate I thought.

My brother got a Tom Tom on online for my dad for Christmas . He set it up and could not find any of the streets we all thought he was crazy until we figured out that my brother bought the one for Puwtek Tieland. He knew were all the Tie
restaurants were. Morel always read the whole add.
