Default looking for some quick info...

hello everyone! My name is Ray. ive been reading for a while and just registered. i have this deal peding tomorrow...

I am looking at a 1985 28 Cigarette copy that has 2 200 mercs. the guys looking for $8500 for the package. it seems real solid but the tripple bolster in the front and rear seat need work.

i was wondering who was making these molds and how fast one can run with the outboards. from what i can tell, it looks identical to pics ive seen of a 1980 28 ss

any info would be great!

Ray

You need to give us much more info before we can give you any valid advice.
Who built this rig? Is there a 12 digit HIN on the starboard aft corner? Need the first three letters to identify the manufacturer.

Has this deal included a survey? Sounds like last minute ?'s that should have been answered prior to "the deal". Make sure you know what you're getting into.

Ray, I responded on your other thread. Those aren't 200's , maybe powerheads are cant see thru cowls but, Those are offshore mid sections, nice steering and 2.4 cowls. I'd guess they are about '86- '88's. If the power heads are 2.4 EFI's like the cowling says the are 260'ish hp.and operate at 6800 rpm. 6500 rpm at 15% with 26's is 73 mph.
Get it checked out by someone familiar with them.

Any of the merc V-6's are reliable motors, I would find out the weight, it wont be a slug with twin 200's, but it wont be a rocket either, your probably looking at a 70 MPH boat, depending on weight, and tune of the motors.
