The only way I can see something from Dog Days would be back in the State Park as was mentioned earlier or in the main channel close to where it was originally run.

With either of those two scenarios you wouldn't be able to see the event from the shore which has to be a big part of anyones proposal. And the parking just isn't their to accomodate even a modest crowd.

Personally it doesn't matter much to me where it's ultimately held, it's either close to home or a little run up the lake.

Does anyone know what the WP's criteria is for holding an event like the shootout? Do they have specifics on minimum / maximum's for the length of the run and width of the course, Safety Zones, ect..?

My guess is they don't have anything specific in writing. It sounds to me like they look at the proposal and determine if it can work safely in the given space, then add in some politics and personal agenda's maybe

Probably a lot like working with the CoO and NE State Fire Marshall/inspectors. Whatever they say goes, even if it's written in the code otherwise

Fountain 4 you hit it on the head, First off as I've mentioned captain Rons is good location for smoother water only, can't see the races from bar, no parking at all, not even close to enough docks, too far away so most people wont go up there , but the killer is there is no possibility for tv coverage, that is a show stopper, Toad already has 1 event and is in lake ozark, not Osage Beach which is where it has been for 20 years and the city will do whats necessary to keep it there, Water patrol feels they cannot shut off the lake there because it is too large of an area to patrol and has could not shut off that area because it is so far downstream and no one could get to the rest of the lake, also they feel the water conditions there would be too dangerous for 200mph runs, There has already been 2 locations presented to water patrol for Dog Days, I believe as does water patrol that the safest place to have it is near the original shooters course, only run it upstream towards paradise, they also feel the state park needs a chance, both locations have been mapped in detail and submitted to the Regatta permit committee by Dog Days, We hope it stays in Osage Beach where it has been and where the heaviest lake population is concentrated to make it accessible to the greatest number of people to generate most money for the charities, We have put in our best shot at it, but ultimately keeping it alive and the providing
a huge economic draw to all Osage Beach business's and to inject money into local fire and police dept's to keep the area safe, good luck to everyone.

I agree the area up by the Toad is pretty wide and would be difficult to limit the racecourse rollers from boats moving but I don't buy the notion that they couldn't limit that area they do it for the OSS races...although their they seemed more interested in hassling people about their registrations rather than crowd control and safety.....

Preferably it will be close to the old course which is ideally suited for running the races...too bad there isn't someplace closer to the dam to run it, it's about the same width and every morning and evening people always want to make speed runs down there...

lol...maybe they could use the Atlantis Island as their site, they probably won't have the condo's full next year at the rate their progressing...

regardless of where it's run Osage Beach should see a lions share of the monies from people coming in for the event, they have the most infrastructure inplace...

I agree that the area in front of tan-tara resort would be perfect. Anybody approached them about sponsoring it?

Buddy - do you have anyone that was associated with past set ups willing to help out? Seems like it would be a huge advantage if someone with previous experience would help develop the new plan.
