It's not the first time Ambrose was hit.... As a matter of fact that's what happened to the old platform.

"Ummmm.....Do ya think it could have had anything to do with the reported 32' waves off the NY/NJ coastline Saturday....with 70 mph wind gusts reported on Martha's vinyard and cape cod???"

so..this just leaves one to wonder...just how well can an apache handle 32' waves???..just how fast do you need to go to get on top??

I like what this guy wrote....

"This is the second time that the Ambrose light has been hit since it replaced the old Texas tower structure. These foreign captains insist on finding the entrance to New York harbor by entering the position for Ambrose taken out of the Light Tables into their GPS driven autopilots. With position accuracy of 5-10 feet the autopilot simply does what it is told. Maintaining a proper watch has never been the strong suit of many foreign crews as evidenced by other collisions. They should be banned from the harbor."
