Hey, I'm in agreement there was a f-up here.
I just think it's a shame that it happened.
I don't think anyone was trying to screw anybody, which is all too common in the boat business.

Angry Mob Has Arrived!!!

:Whatever:Angry mob has arrived!
I have been dealing with them on my exhaust problem for the last three months, nothing short of a nightmare, never get a call back, alway some new problem with them, been waiting for a refund for weeks, but when you call, you get some meassage about store inventory, I've heard of others that have had problems with Trick, and just trying to get my $4000 back, I was told that I would have the credit back, and then no answer when I call, and no reply from e-mails, are they out of business? I can understand having personal problems, but business is business. I posted this on a Checkmate web site, and just got Give Fred a break, it really is not about Fred, it’s about Trick, and the fact that I’m pissed, hey if you have problems, call in help, get the job done. I’m sure that if I received parts without paying for them I would be the bad guy. Right? Of course I would be, I really don’t think after this I will be doing business with them again, Cheap parts, how about NO PARTS? Although My situation was kind of unique with Trick, I still would get the excuse that shipment was always some other vendors problem, maybe Trick needs or needed to hire more staff, it seems like a lot of us went to Trick for parts. Just my opinion

4000 so far... any other amounts owed?

OSO 11-16-2007 02:15 PM

In six years I have never been in a situation where I am not sure what to do.

I will say this, I met Fred in that parking lot at TNT years ago when Offshoreonly headquarters was there. I am going to say that while Fred has been faced with some terrible situations in the past year, I am sure he will do the right thing.

I ask that you all relax a little and not make this thread a stone throwing contest as I know some people on here love the controversy and to stir the pot.

I will leave this thread open for now and will watch the direction it heads from here.

Posts on here are not going to help the situation while I am sure Fred works on some of the issues at hand. To those that are owed money (alleged), lets give Fred a chance to work some things out.

When you stop letting it be fun. If it ain't fun, it ain't for me.

It stops being fun the moment it becomes a business IMHO.... Very few people are able to differentiate between passion, business and hobby...

Fred, we've talked numerous times and I've placed orders with you in the past. I enjoyed our conversations and your insight. If we ever met in-person I'm sure I'd buy you a drink!

Unfortunately life doesn't slow down and we're all in a battle for survival... The moment you let your guard down someone else is quick to jump in..

I have to disagree.... I personally have been faced with some very difficult things over the past year, so have you. While there should be a certain amount of understanding involved with Fred, I disagree it should be this much, especially with the daughter (alledgedly) posting on the thread. They are WELL aware of the problem and this is a problem that was very obvious last year as well.
No one runs a perfect business, including me. I can assure you if there are several alledged customers out money, on a board that Trick advertises on, it deserves merit that an explanation of what the heck is going on is warranted.... not a peep until the daughter gets on here and runs her trap.
Maybe you know more of the situation than the rest of us which is fine... you have proven that you can handle all of these situations well without getting the mob out of control (but even you have to admit that this is a very smart mob in most cases). If Fred is having several problems personally, so be it. We all do.. and all of us are pretty reasonable people here and for it to come to a head with a thread like this? This has gone on way too often and way too long.

otis311 11-16-2007 02:52 PM

I feel the pain from people that are waiting for parts or a refund on their money. I have been in that situation before involving hundreds of thousands with National Marine.

I have known Fred a long time and knowing Fred, Im more than confident that everyone will be satisfied when all is said and done. I honestly cant see Fred stiffing ANYONE on anything, It just not his style to walk away from a problem. I know this doesnt help anyone who has been waiting for product or a refund... but If I was betting on this one, my money is on Fred doing the right thing. eventually

OSO this thread needs to be closed, too much speculation, no facts, and its ruining a busness, a personal life, and one of your sponsors,

Joy,

i think the best thing would have been to say "I understand all your concerns and here is what we are doing to get them straightened out" Not once did you give any insight as to why so many questions (and phone calls) are going unanswered

The hope would have been that you would have at least told us Fred was OK and things are being addressed with an update coming soon

We are now left to wonder

1)Is Fred Ok
2) Is Trick Marine still in business
3) Will he be satisfying his commitments on stuff paid for already
4) When will he be satisfying his paid for commitments
5) When will someone be answering the phones again at Trick (If ever)

I helped my son get a job with Fred a few years ago and he worked for him for a year before he moved back here to Michigan I talked to Fred three weeks ago and all seemed fine. Has something changed ??

Joy you have hung out with my son. You know who I am, and I would hope you would respect what i have to say

I am here to tell you your post only brought more questions and less answers to a site that just wants to know what is going on

People on here want to know how they can make there future decisions regarding getting parts for there boats.
Part of this decision process is to know if the supplier that many people have been using is still in business

Fred has peoples money, and has made commitments based on receiving that money, the question most everyone wants (and i believe deserves) is an answer to ---IS Trick Marine still open for business????
Joy even you must agree that every one of Trick Marines customers are at least owed that much, then many can decide what course of action to take next relative to obtaining parts wanted and needed for there boats and who to contact to receive refunds if they are not going to be getting their parts

To Fred--- I hope all is well and you are ok
You have been a well respected guy on OSO I hope you dont disappear into the sunset

Let us know if you are ok and if Trick is still open for business

The unanswered question of how trick is posting Ebay feedback yet not responding on here remains unanswered. If I were having "issues", Ebay feedback would be pretty close to the bottom.

Fred sounds like a stand-up guy but the silence is an invitation for indictment in the public arena. His daughter coming here and chastizing people who have money in play with no product in return is salt in the wounds of those folks. What she neglected to explain is why he's not speaking for himself.

No, the lack of comminication on the part of that business is 100% responsible for these events.

Disagree.

There is no communcation from people who are supporting an OSO sponsor (and I doubt OSO wants all the hoopla hanging over their head either). While well liked and respected by many, it is the responsibility of someone at Trick Marine (or Fred) to communicate with those that have had money charged to their CC, orders waiting in the wings for months, etc. and it's acceptable for those paying customers to stand their ground and ask the pertinent question:

Is Trick Marine still in business? If so, why the lack of communcation?

never enuff 11-16-2007 03:34 PM

Is no one close enough to his place of business to drive by and stop to see if he is still open? Is no one a close enough friend to call him personally in the evening at his home to check and see if he is OK and find out what is happening and explain the concerns????? Those things might end a lot of speculation, rumors and allegations. Just a few suggestions.

bajabob38 11-16-2007 03:37 PM

Its time to step up to the plate Fred

My husband and I own our own business Joy.

While I understand your anger towards some of the comments that have been made regarding your father and his company, it is IMO poor taste to post what you did.

Business is about communication and making the customer happy, even when the news isn't what the customer wants to hear. If there are personal reasons that are affecting your business dealings, then it becomes YOUR responsibility to address it firsthand with your customers.

Your judgement was poor today Joy Cecil, done on a personal level vs a professional level.

I hope for your business sake it does not come back to bite you.

The lack of communication is the real killer .
Its hard to man up in this situation .

He is no doubt embarressed , & concerned lawfully on what to say or not here .

I do like that OSO is neutral , giving time before deleting .

My guess is she never frequently a Burger King, just reaped the financial rewards Burger King afforded her family.....Ironically if things dont get turned around for them....she very well might end up flipping burgers herself....

Sorry to hear you were shorted some fry's they must have let the fry counter off today.....lol

Yes, inquiring minds want to know.

My guess would be is OSO got the same recording, no real response from Trick, gave up trying to make sense of it and opened the thread back up.

I ordered a steering wheel about a year and a half ago.It was on my door step in 3 days.So I used them again over the summer.Thank God it wasn't something keeping me out of the water or my boat wouldn't have gotten wet this year. The 3 days turned into 3 or 4 weeks. When i finally spoke to Fred, he took care of the situation and had most of my stuff here the very next day.The rest of it was sent after threatening to start a post about my experience with them. The rest of my stuff was here 2 days later.I'm sure he means well but I'll shop around next time.

Heath 11-19-2007 06:13 PM

I will keep this short and sweet since I'm not sure what to think of this situation yet, I worked for Trick marine about a year and a half ago and left because the business was run very un-professionally...I won't go into the major details out of respect for Fred but I saw this coming a long time ago and to save my own reputation I decided it was best for me to step away from the company...The store inventory message does not surprise me however since I was present when he closed another business of his in the same fashion...I do know that Fred has always had the best of intentions but didn't quite handle business the way it should be handled...for the most part it was because of employees with lack of experience and knowledge in the boating industry taking customers orders....I sincerely hope that he makes the right decison with regards to the people he still owes parts to including myself.

i purchased a steering wheel off ebay from them, got it in 3 days with no problems. that was in the begining of november.
