I saw this picture in the KW photobucket thread. Did someone make this boat a bow rider?

Smitty 11-18-2007 01:32 PM

It's not a bow rider, it's a mid cabin :cool-smiley-011::D

38flatdeck 11-18-2007 01:33 PM

yep, saw it in key west

DirtyMoney 11-18-2007 01:35 PM

More pics please!

cosmic12 11-18-2007 01:35 PM

That is so wrong on sooooooooo many levels:violent-smiley-045:

bouyhunter 11-18-2007 02:01 PM

Just a guess, but at one time was it a "working" boat??:cool-smiley-027:

Jupiter Sunsation 11-18-2007 02:02 PM

It must be one of Ben's retired "cargo" boats.

There is a 47 Fountain for sale here in Florida that was a mid-cabin conversion from the factory so I guess any boat can be opened up.

wananewboat 11-18-2007 02:05 PM

Couldn't find any more pics. This is the thread. It was on page 4. http://s218.photobucket.com/albums/cc23/berns29scarab/

That ...IS NOT...the original banner boat. However, the new owner copied the banner boat livery and decided to open the deck to make it more usable.

The new owner is a past offshore champion and has a great deal of respect for both the sport and the real boats....I doubt that he would ever do this to the original boat.

Ryan Beckley 11-18-2007 02:13 PM

Who is the owner?

glassdave 11-18-2007 02:22 PM

cool . . . . i'd drop a hot tub in it though :cool-smiley-011:

Chris Sunkin 11-18-2007 02:30 PM

I don't care if it was Aronow reincarnated, that's wrong. Buy some big deck boat if you want to tote a couple dozen people. Why deface a legend?

Plus, I wouldn't want to ride up there anyway, unless it was on a smooth lake. Sitting down, that far forward? Bet that's a nice ride at speed on rollers.

rockstrmkr 11-18-2007 05:23 PM

Boat was a European 41...All black 6 pack called "Shaka".
It was re-done in Florida, turned into a bow-rider, and re-painted with the original banner boat graphics.
As previously stated, the owner is a Canadian former powerboat racer with a long list of Apache's under his belt.

I was told that the boat will be mostly a "lake" boat, but....the center of gravity on the 41's is right where the fairing meets the deck, ie, right where the front passengers will sit .....

The boat is beautiful except for the hole in it.

I've always wanted to see a picture of a mid cabin / bow rider high performance boat (w/ people sitting there) LAUNCHED off a 5 foot wave at WOT!

JasonSmith 11-18-2007 07:25 PM

I saw the boat in KW. It is perfect in every way except that damn hole in the nose. That sh!t ain't right. But, it ain't my boat, so in all actuality, I give 2 sh!ts.

Definately might need some grab handles.

I was excited to see that boat come into the harbor in KW because I wanted to check it out, but I nearly fell out when it came up to the dock and I saw what had been done to it. I did get a chance to speak with the owner, but I don't remember his name. He told me that he thought the hole made the boat unique and that it would help the resale value down the road. He claimed that somebody would buy the boat because of the hole instead of the hole deterring somebody from buying it. It's his boat and he can do as he pleases, but it is my opinion that he must be on some really wild meds! :D

Oh yea, he says that he has the pieces they cut out.

Mange 11-19-2007 07:55 AM

Tell me thats a photoshop fake...please!!!

Queenie 11-19-2007 08:16 AM

Skramer text us a picture of this when they were in KW to show us the hole! Thankfully we found out it was NOT the banner boat, just painted to mimick the banner boat.

I just sit here and shake my head, asking why???

Sorry Mange, not a fake.

Roger 1 11-19-2007 08:46 AM

Just because you can does'nt mean you should. What a stupid thing to do.

Sydwayz 11-19-2007 09:04 AM

I've seen it too. Not a fake!
Welcome to America; where you can do whatever the F you want! :D I guess I would call it a Mid-Ship Rider. :drink: The work does look to be quality.

I'd call it the Box Office. Guys ride in the Cockpit, and the chicks are up front in the Box Office showing off their assets while idling through party cove; needs a pole though.

crb76 11-19-2007 09:16 AM

That is terrible...

Who did the work? Was this the boat that TNT was working on?

cfischer 11-19-2007 10:38 AM

I heard he did it for his kids. He still has the pieces so if someones really interested tell him to put it back together. The boat would still take some scalps if anyone wanted to play with him in big seas!!!!!!

TopSpin80 11-19-2007 11:14 AM

I think it would be cool to make the deck attachable and detachable. The storage of that piece may be a problem though, but if you are just gonna cruise with family take it out and let them sit there.. if you are gonna run the boat put it back and bolt it in for the structural strength.

Ernie

I'm sure whoever did it reinforced the rest of the boat to take the loads of no longer having a deck.

Some of the old Mahogany wooden speedsters were built that way. The removable piece was split in the middle (like T-Tops) so you could store it when you removed it.

Still a BAD idea to cut that thing up...

Dude! Sweet! 11-19-2007 12:45 PM

Wasn't that Shaka boat spectacularly beautiful and unique looking in all black? I mean I know it would probably double as a cooking surface, but man what a shame...

I thought Warparty (in the classifieds) was the original red banner boat?

rockstrmkr 11-19-2007 01:12 PM

I never saw "shaka" in person, but from the pix it sure looked really mean!
"warPaint" was the original banner boat...

FunHome 11-19-2007 01:41 PM

I heard that the guy has three APACHE's!!! So even if he degraced this one by cutting it apart he still has two others......

I guess the name on the back should read
"BECAUSE I CAN"
