Offshore racing games
 

I would buy one the second it came out. It would be freaking sweet to start out with the little boats like a Glastron GT 160 with a 40 hp outboard and then, through points and medals, GRADUALLY move up to SCARAB and Cigarette Performance, and Super Boat Performance Boats and have the option to upgrade the boats with better hulls, engines, props, etc... I would also like to have the option to be a cop. It would be fun to race to catch those smugglers and drug cartels before they reach international waters.

This concept is more than viable now that graphics technology can render accurate fluid dynamics and real world physics.

It sure would help scratch the itch in the off season months.


In order to really make the experience, a purpose-designed controller would be ideal. This could be adapted easily from the existing steering wheel controllers for auto racing games. All that would be needed is a pair of throttles, and some trim switches/indicators.

I'm actually trying to get in contact with a major game publisher to see about the possibility of an offshore racing simulator.

In any case, I know of two such simulators that are presently available.
