*New Thread*Offshore Racing Video Game

For you guys out there that still like to play video games.
Would you buy an offshore racing video game?? I was just wondering how many people here are into video games? I know I am, i'm on xbox 360 and like to play online and thought that with all the car/bike/atv/snowboarding/truck/nascar/etc racing games around, how come NOBODY has made a game for Boat racing?Anybody on offshore connected with EA,THQ, Turn 10 or any other video game maker? My thoughts on an offshore racing game would be starting out small with outboard hydro's and work your way through tunnel hulls, inboard hydro's, like the stuff that races over in kent narrows in the summer then up through the ranks of small offshore up to the grand APBA Offshore ranks all along testing and tunning the motors and props. With games now a days you should be able to trim the boat in and out as well as the tabs up and down.Lots more deatails but you get the idea. I would think that boat manufacturers would be up for it if it was done right, it would be great exposure for that sport and possible get people more interested in the sport or boating..... Whatcha think???

Here's a freebie to tide you over, not exactly 360 worthy.

I would think the games exist out there. I know I've seen them in the adult arcades...you know the ones that serve drinks to adults trying to be kids again! :drink:

add poker runs in the mix.

CigDaze 11-20-2007 03:40 PM

Absolutely, in a heartbeat!

Definetly, and with the gaming today you can just keep adding, whether its more boats, courses, new parts, or motors or whatever because they make online downlaods. I actually just downloaded new cars last night for my new Need for Speed Prostreet game. It's so easy and fast. You could race online with people all over the world just like you do with forza 2 or Need for Speed or the first person shooters.

Sloman 11-20-2007 04:07 PM

well stop talking about it and get on it :D call the people you need to call like EA sports it would be very cool if the controler vibrated to how well the boat was trimmed out in the conditions

TeamSaris 11-20-2007 04:15 PM

YES!!!! I can vouch for most kids my age also.:D;)

Elite Marine 11-20-2007 04:42 PM

I think someone was trying this a few years ago.

Good idea, just don't know that there is a "huge" audience for it.

I wish you luck with it. PC version too!!!:D

well get as many people to vote as possible as well as give ideas like classes and boats. How many people are on Offshore only?? I'm going to make this thread on Speedwake and Scream and Fly, lets see some responce... I bet we could get Fountain Racing to sponsor it, you know how Reggie like to be involved in everything.....:D

p.s the game could also have events like the lotto shootout where testing and tuning really make the difference..

Son of a Gun 11-20-2007 04:57 PM

I remember a boat racing game my dad gave to me years ago, I think it was on the original Playstation.

But with technology these days a pretty sweet game could be made. Most likely couldn't have name brands in it, but names close to name brands. Would be pretty awesome.

I think it could have all the name brands, I bet the marine industry would love the exposure. Last years the video game industry earned 13.5 billion dollars, that's allot of people playing video games, and if I were manufacturers I would want a piece of that. If it was done right, realistic like the Forza series I think it would be huge. Also remember what's the average age people buy boats?? In there 30's, the new average age of video gamers is also in there 30's........:drink:

TeamSaris 11-20-2007 05:17 PM

Forza and Gran Turismo 4 (my personal favorite) would be great games to base it on.Both are very realisitc and popular

captlucky13 11-20-2007 05:19 PM

i am a video game junkie and i would want nothing more than a boat game man it would never leave my console

gotime34 11-20-2007 07:54 PM

I think there was a loooooong thread about this like 3 or 4 years ago. A guy on here was going to make an offshore racing game and was getting opinions from everyone on what to have in it. I think then he realized it wouldn't be a high selling game and bailed on the idea. It was one of the first threads I ever read on here.

Chris Sunkin 11-20-2007 08:00 PM

No.

But a pinball version....

(sorry, old guy)

pshannon 11-20-2007 10:03 PM

Here's something I found on the web, test your self. My highest top speed on the Trim game was 112mph.

http://www.motorboatmuseum.org.uk/learning/games.php

AeroSpeedMarine 11-21-2007 12:19 AM

took me about 20 min but i finally got 112

Elite Carrier Group 11-21-2007 08:15 AM

112 mph my highest

robyw1 11-21-2007 08:38 AM

I was the one who pondered the idea a few years ago when I was single and extra time on my hands. :) Unfortunately nowadays I have very little spare time with family and work that I could never free up enough time to get started. :( I think it is a great idea and I also think it would sell very well if marketed appropriately. I really wish I could get out of the fast lane of life and devote some time to this.

Shore Thing 11-21-2007 08:55 AM

I remember the old thread and i still think it would be an awesome game. Just not enough of an audience to make it worthwhile to the developers.

I would be cool to make it two player, with one guy working the throttles and trim and the other one driving.

EXTREMEMARINE.COM 11-21-2007 09:13 AM

I'm in!!!!!!

i still go home every night and sit in my racing seat with pedals and steering wheel and run Formula One Championship on my PS3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. You could have online virtual Poker Runs which would be loads of fun, especially when it's freezing cold outside!

mattyboy 11-21-2007 11:18 AM

you would need to find an independant gamer who is not licensed to the big gaming companies as all of their work is the companies and they won't let them work on what might or might not be profitable
, My son and my money are going to college in arizona for game programming and development I have spoken to him about this on a few ocassions he'll be home for Christmas I'll find out more he has access to everything needed, programmer's ,artists, game company reps

our Deal was I pay for college he gets an education I get a video game

Philip 11-21-2007 11:55 AM

112

112 MPH, I guess that is the top speed, Now if I send this lap top to the Lake, maybe with some prop work, and engine height I can get to 120

Lofty 11-21-2007 12:00 PM

I'd be into a Xbox game but would it have to run on 220? And won't it make my power bull go through the roof and cause my tv to break down every time I use it? To be true to life it probably will.

fubar260 11-21-2007 01:37 PM

if you want a baseline on how advanced a game could be, even on something as "aging" as a PS2 look at Need For Speed Prostreet by EA Games.

You change everything from the cam timing to tire pressure to gear ratios to boost pressures.

and the AI is no slouch either. EA makes a very advanced game, and without a doubt, pairing it with a new system like a PS3 or even a PC, it would be the setup.

just my .02

not to mention endorsements, like on that NFS game, Energizer, Progressive Insurance, the car maunfacturers, the list goes on.

no doubt in my mind they could do a game like that for this sport and others like it (offshore and tunnels)

That sucker is hard to steer....lol But TOTALLY fun...

pshannon 11-23-2007 09:34 AM

We have to get more respnoce for anythimg to be done,I'll look into contacting EA,THQ,etc.............

long duck dong 11-23-2007 09:39 AM

I'm totally in on the idea of having a game made. The only game console we own is a Playstation 1 but if I knew there was a game of this type I would buy a new console...

inbetween 11-26-2007 05:14 PM

Yes!

The old Playstation 1 game Powerboat Racing was a bit to far fetched to get excited over. Who races a boat through lava filled tunnels anyway? A game similar to the Gran Turismo or Project Gotham series with boats would be killer.

TEAMBAJA 11-26-2007 08:17 PM

I think there would be a market for a fresh game like this. I play street racing, quad racing, dirt bikes, Jet Ski, skateboarding, etc type games, but Im not necessarilly into all those sports in real life.

RunninHotRacing163.1 11-26-2007 08:37 PM

AIR TIME 07-08-2009 02:33 AM

DIRT is a good game to go by xbox 360, I was into it for 3months straight everyday then got board, but if it was boat racing wow.

attitude 07-08-2009 11:28 AM

ya i know they've made evreyother type off video game but y not a boating one

offshore racing video game for PC

Hi everyone,
As we just finished our offshore video game, I wanted to share with you this information. It's a simple racing game, don't expect a simulation one but I hope you'll have a great fun anyway playing at it. You can find a demo at http://www.gamayun-productions.com
Any comments would be highly appreciated!

I tried your Video game and it was OK. Not mush different from others I have played befre on Play station 1 years back.

Heres what Id like to see.

No jumps, V hulls, Id like to see a river boating experince because I think it would be easy to do. Have the Jumps be a boat wake coming down river or one going up river and give style points for killer jumps and good reentry.

While it would be cool to see ocean stuff I am not sure how you could make the boat ride properly in the water.

also I would make the boat sit nose igher and not DIg into the water unless its stuffs and then Id have it Look like stuff, Maybe have a helicopter come in and take people away if you stuff it.

Maybe have a set up side bar with Trim and drives so when you come up on a boat you have to add some tab etc.

Then eventually make it so you can buy more enegines etc.

Just my .02

Other than that It was a fun little game but I couldn't see myself spending much time with it.
It didnt really relate in any way to the type of boating any of us really do.
Ill be interested to see what OTHERs think

I am glad someone is trying to get input and build a good game for the Performance boating market.

bimini run 11-22-2010 08:33 AM

I'm not gonna lie, I'm 15 and I would totally get this game. I still play Bimini run on my dads sega genesis sometimes, and THAT'S an old game. And I know I can speak for a kids my age when I say this game would totally be successful if it's done the right way. Make it like NFS. Start out with some kind of small outboard, little bit of cash. Complete races, make more money, buy better boats and pimp them out. I think this would be awesome and I know I've been wishing for one for years.

I remember playing one of the grand theft auto's a few years ago and you could drive boats, and I would just drive em around. Closest I ever got to an offshore game (for new systems anyway)

Hmmm, you race and get nothing? That wouldn't be very fun lol, how are you supposed to buy new parts? Or I guess you could unlock more parts / boats from winning races, and there would be no money at all :P
