The Mercedes boat is now the new Mercedes boat!

Thanks to Victor at Chopper Nation, The Mercedes boat is now Mercedes Benz's official poker run boat! After seeing the Bud Light MTI in Key West, Victor contacted one of his long time friends at Mercedes and told him about the Mercedes boat and the marketing potential it could have. They asked how soon could we could have the boat to them to see. Pulled into the parking lot to have 80 Mercedes people come down to look the boat over. They said it was the most unique piece of marketing they have ever seen. We made the intitial deal in the parking lot. They were so excited to get started they asked if I could leave the boat with them for a couple of days to get some marketing stuff done. I am looking forward to a great year working with Mercedes!

I would have thought that they (MBusa) would have known about that boat a long time ago Gino! Are you serious that they didn't know about it?

The boat was from Long Island. These guys are from the Southeast region. Crazy as it sounds, the only guy that actually said he knew the boat saw my Ebay listing a few weeks ago!

Forget the cash, negotiate for a new F700 AMG.

McGary911 11-20-2007 08:22 PM

I'd bet they'd really have liked the old interior, with all of those real MB parts........I know it wasn't all that practical, but it bumped up the wow factor quite a bit.

Congratulations......that's pretty cool. Be sure to let us know where we can see your boat in their marketing.........

Truthfully, they didn't have a complaint. They couldn't believe how many MB parts were in it.

Anyone that would complain about that boat is on the pipe. I've actually posted pics of your boat (before it was yours) on a couple of Benz forums I visit from time to time. All those no boater Mercedes freaks loved it.

PARADOX 11-20-2007 09:09 PM

Good luck to you on the deal Gino.

NJgr8ful 11-20-2007 09:21 PM

That is fantastic Gino. About time these guys realized the potential with this. :drink: I was thinking of approaching a big time corporate sponsor and doing something similar ... of course in my case the boat is/was not already built  :) But I have some contacts to get the job done. I might want to chat about this in more detail sometime if you would be so kind. The guys I am considering already do major sponsorship in Nascar series and this would seem another avenue that makes good business sense!

Great job Gino!
Chris

Semper Fi 11-20-2007 10:44 PM

Gino,

Watching you buy cars, boats, casino's, hotels etc..... is like us "poor" people playing Monopoly and buying the stuff!! God bless you brother!!!!!

FeverMike 11-20-2007 11:05 PM

So Gino, can you get OSO members specials dealer on Mercedes now?!?!?! My BMWX5 is going away and the wifey wants either a CLK convertible or ML550.

satisfied1 11-20-2007 11:27 PM

Gino wish I could own that ride... Just a little out of my pocket book range. Congrats man, maybe we can get some good things out of this for the powerboat people. Good press is always great.

LubeJobs42 11-20-2007 11:33 PM

Bud light really opened the door. With the attendance of the runs as well as the tv shows now covering them, I think there are more eyes on Poker runs than racing. For years i wanted to try to get a sponsor for poker runs. It was just hard to justify how it would be worthwhile for them. I am very excited about this!

Cash Bar 11-20-2007 11:33 PM

I said from day one that that thing should be hanging on the lobby wall at MBUSA headquarters. Pure art. They could have left the interior in then.

kimmer 11-21-2007 04:56 AM

Congrats on the good news Gino. Does this mean I no longer have a ride coming?

BobbyB 11-21-2007 05:35 AM

I agree, besides - buyer in the ordinary course of business. That be the original owner's problem.

Congrats Gino. You said your going to be working with MB - Is this a sponsorship arangement or did you sell it out right? Kind of confused.

txriverrat2001 11-21-2007 09:12 AM

I tried to get the boss to buy it when it first went up for sale - but no deal.

Now if it was a NY Yankee theme - we'd be all over it I'm sure.

I hear AROD just signed a deal for another gazillion dollars -

Congrats on the deal!! Maybe they'll take it on tour and come down to Texas with it - I'd love to get a ride in that peice of art!

A good frined of mine is Jochen Mass who won Le Mans driving for Mercedes.....he just loves boats and anything to do boating. If I can help let me know.
