You probably couldn't..and shouldn't, go through the East River. But a race starting at Liberty Landing out to the ocean and ending at the Throgs Neck Bridge, coming in from the Sound, would give you most of the old course.

I would love a Throggs Neck Bridge finish line..........I would have a great view from my balcony........
