You screwed up! If you had bought that 5 acres, right now you'ld have 10. It would be time to sell before the water comes back up.

That is sad to see though.

Someone mentioned Lake Cumberland. They lowered that lake intentionally to repair the dam. It's not because of the weather.

It's actually a record low now but I've seen it real close to being this low. The water is going to Atlanta , Alabama and Florida.

Unlike the other lakes in the south, Cumberland was intentionally drained down to fix the dam. It is a seven year project, but at the completion of the first phase(soon) they are going to re-evaluate and set the lake level based on how it worked. The latest semi-official rumor is they are going to raise it some from the level this year probably 10-15 feet for the duration of repairs. It should be announced some time this winter.

The Gov. was in DC to promote was some legislation to reduce the amount of water we are required to release each day. It was something like 36,000 gallons a minute. The US Army Corps of Enigeneers are the people who regulate it not Georgia. I believe they were attempting to reduce that amount down to 19,000 a minute.

Someone mentioned the water police....yes they comb the nice neighborhoods around here looking for people running their sprinklers at 3am.

yeah , the water police was on fox news , rigding around pointing out the "green lawns".. they also had real hefty fines for violating the ordinace , shutting your water off, etc....

Lanier was this low in 81' without the sever water shortage. Commerical and residential growth in the Atlanta area has been out of control for the past 25 years. Local groups have been screaming for years that a major drought would cause a water crisis since both Lake Lanier and Lake Alatoona were barely meeting the local water needs at full pool.

The short of it is that developers fund political campaigns in this part of the country. Build it now, the hell with tomorrow.

The fact is the Corps is releasing more water than needed. Whether it is to prove a point to protesters or keep EPA happy about the mussels is a mystery.
