Hey Lucky,
I think in terms of build quality there is no comparison, Skater wins hands down. I think the same can be said for re-sale value and desireablity. As for ride quality in the ocean I assume you mean rougher water? If so I'd have to lean toward the Motion simply because of the extra length and a bit wider tunnel. And yes I have been in both.
Now compare a 30 Skater to a 30 motion...Never mind that's not fair..
By the way I'm almost done with the re-rig of my 32B so next time your home stop by the dealership and we'll make plans to head out

28 Skater will be faster in its intended water...by far. I have run with a couple of 30 spectres, in our river, it has yet to be rough enough for one to get by me. That doesnt count the one with tripples however, he runs about the same speed but I would think the extra weight would help him in rough water. In the ocean, I dont really want to be in either. I would think if you had to do it, a 30 motion would ride better because of the weight, length and width. The 28 Skater is a lot smaller than the 30 Motion and 30 Spectre.
