What would a guestimation be on the breakdown?

$5000 in parts and $17,000 in labor.

yeap:D

I am betting some of the reputable engine builders on this site can do it around 11-13k.

Question: After paying $22K for a re-fresh, do you get another 6 month warranty on the 850sci? If yes, then maybe its worth it for someone.....

Replacement parts used in the refresh carry the same warranty the engines are sold with – 180-days for the 850 SCi, 90-days for the 1075 SCi and no warranty for the 1200 SCi. Refresh work is backed by a 30-day labor warranty

Are you saying it's another 6 months on top of the 6 you bought it with....or just under the original 6 months? If it's 6 on top of the 6 you're not paying for the service, you're paying for a warranty.....

30 days on labor....seems like this would leave a lot of grey area when push comes to shove..... :(

Anyone have one fail in 30+ days after the referesh and how did Merc. handle it?

Has anyone questioned a resepected builder i.e. Teague, Pfaff, Cobra, Chief etc. to see what their cost would be to freshen one of these engines and what the warranty would be? Just curious..... if you're out of warranty anyway, I would think you might have some options.
Those prices are near some (not all models) aircraft piston reman engines from Teledyne or Textron that carry a TBO warranty; 2000 hours.

I am also curious how many of these rebuilds come in at that price. I'm sure any machine work, damage, etc. can really drive the cost up!

Has anyone used this service yet?

bripar77 12-04-2007 01:32 PM

How about hours warranty

180 Days doesn't measn much with one of these boats when in the winter some guys can't even use them for some of that time or somebody is busy and can' use it much. They should warrantee it for hours of use, I'm sure the ECU can keep track of all that.
