Name the boats in the movie 'Face Off' ??
both were stern drives, but one had the sound effects of an outboard

Waterfoul 03-13-2001 10:04 AM

Huge, those were the new (at the time) 22 Scarab. The advertisement and press releases said they were jet boats (Ah, O.K.??). Can you really swing an anchor hard enough to put the tines thru the deck?? Not sure I could.

How about the boat Bond, James Bond was driving thru the bayou's of Lousiana, which featured the worlds longest boat jump (a record that was only beaten a couple of years ago)? I have a boat in the back yard made by the same company. Maybe I should set up a ramp??? LOL!!!

Mike

traviss 03-13-2001 10:20 AM

hey waterfoul, is that the same james bond, where the chick is driving a like 40-50 sunseeker??? did't they launch a twin outboard center counsle boat onto the dock too http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/confused.gif

sean stinson 03-13-2001 12:25 PM

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT wrong answer on the Face Off boats yes they were Scarabs but not 22' they were 23' SCS Scarabs with bravo's on them.....

Waterfoul 03-13-2001 01:30 PM

Dammit!! I changed it from 23 foot to 22 foot. Anyway, traviss, nope. The Bond movie I am talking about might hve been made before you were born (OUCH!!!). Not sure of the title.

Mike

sean stinson 03-13-2001 03:00 PM

Waterfoul...The movie you're talking about is "Live and Let Die" and the boat was a Glasstron Carlson with an outboard I belive it was a 16' boat if memory serves me correct and it's still in the Guiness book of world records as longest jump in a boat....Sean

Sean, yup, that's the movie. I love that movie just for the boats!! But I thought the boat jump in Face Off was actually longer??? I could be wrong (and I'm sure sombody will correct me). Anyway, I own a Glastron of the same vintage.

Mike

ssherman 03-13-2001 07:08 PM

How about the type of boat used to drag Bernie around the harbor in Weekend @ Bernie's Two? or what type of boats used to jump the wakes in the water scene from Caddyshack?

huge 03-13-2001 09:34 PM

Sorry it took so long to get back to this.
Yes , the boats in Face Off were 23 scarabs. An ugly goofy left hand drive version of the successful 22 scarab!
Here's another great jump scene;
Bruce willis in "striking distance)(1993)
He drives a boston whaler over a lock that's about 15 feet high!

Waterfoul 03-14-2001 11:02 AM

Huge, that was a great scene. Too bad the sound effects made his single outboard sound like a thru hull big block. Why do movie companies do that??? Kinda like the Duke of Hazard squeeling out in the dirt!! Aint gonna happen.

Mike

ssherman 03-14-2001 11:10 AM

or how about the nascar movies when a nascar sounds like a formula 1 car http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/confused.gif

traviss 03-14-2001 11:37 AM

or when the cars going down a dirt road and the sound is sqeuling tires http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/confused.gif i can't do it on a dirt road http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/frown.gif how do they http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/confused.gif

Crazyhorse 03-14-2001 12:11 PM

OK trivia buffs, what was the name on the back of the Cary 50 in the Bimini episode of Miami Vice? No fair watching your worn-out copy either!

sean stinson 03-14-2001 12:34 PM

Here's one for you what kind of boat did Rowdy have at his lake house???????

traviss 03-14-2001 12:42 PM

ok what kinda boat does Alan Jackson have???

Phil280 03-14-2001 01:02 PM

There was a signature series Fittapaldi made one year signed by Emerson himself but I forgot what hull. Wellcraft comes to mind but I'm not sure. That boat was in "Tequila Sunrise".

sean stinson 03-14-2001 01:12 PM

Sorry I was talking about the boat in "Days of Thunder"

Waterfoul 03-14-2001 01:37 PM

That Fittapaldi boat was 26 feet long, made by ..... dang, I knew when I started typing this..... uh...... dang, there's a red one around here every summer......might have been Regal....... I know it was't Wellcraft. Anyway, it wasn't nearly as fast as Emo's car!!! And not as good looking either. Kinda tall for a 26 footer. Dang, wish I could remember who built it, I can see the boat in my mind, but can't read the manufacturer's name. Shoot!!!

Mike

sean stinson 03-14-2001 01:39 PM

UH does Chris Craft ring a bell also Wellcraft made one that was gray with a red strip......................

BAJA342 03-14-2001 02:55 PM

Traviss,
Alan Jacksons boat? Buddy Davis.

Waterfoul 03-14-2001 03:00 PM

I don't know Sean. Just doesn't look like a wellcraft to me. Chris Craft maybe, but not a wellcraft. Next time I see it I will be sure to check though. All red boat, with Emo's autograph on the upper gunwhale near the stern on both sides. Looks like it would have a lot of room in it.

Mike

traviss 03-14-2001 03:00 PM

hey man what the hell is buddy davis?? welcome to the board, join in on the fun http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.offshoreonly.com/ubb/biggrin.gif he has a big ol searay

sean stinson 03-14-2001 03:14 PM

The red one was a chris craft but the gray one is a wellcraft....there is one for sale on this site under 30' boats....Sean

Gordo 03-14-2001 03:54 PM

Waterfoul,
Maybe I can help you out.
I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I think it was a "Fittapaldi edition Celebrity".

BigMike 03-14-2001 04:30 PM

Hey Traviss and Baja342, I thought Alan Jackson had a 60 foot Rybovich named Dixie. Did he trade that down to a Buddy Davis. That would be a trade down.

Are you talking about the boat in the day's of thunder? It's was a 38' Scarab. By the way it looked like it was pretty cold on that boat ride!

As for the weekend at Bernie's I think it was a 23' Glastron, I think?!?

BAJA342 03-15-2001 09:57 AM

BIG MIKE,
I read and article about the davis in one of the mag. really nice boat!! would agree about the step down, however both boats are in a class of their own.
